Hi,
I have just got an MSI GC30, it works absolutely fine when it is plugged into my laptop (MSI GL73 running Win10 64bit) via the USB cable. However, as soon as I put the wireless dongle in any of the USB ports Windows comes up with a warning 'USB device not recognized - The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it'. (Word for word including the superfluous comma, bad Microsoft
) With the wireless dongle in, all the controller does is flash the four red lights.
In device manager the dongle shows up as a Universal Serial Bus Controller with a warning - Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed). In properties the detailed warning is 'Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed.'
Just to note, I do not get this issue with any other USB device I plug into the laptop, including a Logitech Wireless Mouse that uses a USB dongle.
I have tried:
1) all of the three USB ports my laptop has (I believe all three are USB 3.0)
2) leaving the controller to charge for a while (although I am never quite sure if it is fully charged or not, the lights just keep flashing).
3) holding down the MSI button and trying to get other modes, nothing appears to work, I just get the four flashing lights.
4) plugging the controller in via a USB cable and switching to each of the four modes, each time unplugging and trying to switch back to wireless.
5) trying to get hold of a driver from MSI to manually install the driver (I can't find one anywhere).
Does anybody have any further suggestions, know how to fix this or could tell me where a driver I can install manually is?
Thanks for any help.
PS When I have the controller plugged in via a USB cable and run a Game Controller Tester, the right-hand vibration feels slightly weaker than the left, does any body else have this? Is this normal? (I will start a new thread on this if necessary but just an aside for the moment)
