Yes and i use taskmanager as well. Its a little tricky getting it to work. Set up as start on login and high previlige

Mate, you are just like me, I'm also a game developer and 3d artist, and I bought this freaking beast to get the full power, yet the cpu thermal is very bad, 65watt max with 3.5ghz,i was able to manage to hit 3.8 with undervoltingg but still the heat is freaking bad.

Is that the liquid metal you used for cpu?

My old laptop was ROG gl502, i7 6700 with gtx 1070 it served me for 5 years now and still rocks. I've artic mx2 paste, but based on what yiu said, I then won't repaste my cpu but with LM


Just please confirm with me what LM did you use, and if any advice you would like to share with me while removing the old phase change liquid would be greatful.

Yep this is LM what i applied

my advice, dont remove pad frame on heatsink, you will see it. It will secure that LM dont go anywhere from CPU plate. I removed and it was unnecessarily, is better that it is there like it is not . I realized later.

Glad to see someone have success with their LM changeover. You were probably a little dazzled by that temperature drop eh!! I keep getting jumped on by guys like palusajokaim above on this site because I swear by LM. I repaired Puters for a shxtload of years in the evenings for beer money and had "MANY" New rigs show up with little paste, dry paste on them. Not counting the rigs guys had toasted hell out of running furmark.
Me, with 5 puters changed over to LM and testing lots of different configurations. (LM on Copper-LM on Nickel Plate) over 4+ years have about as much LM experience as you can get.
If you have a machine on warranty, send it in to MSI. If it comes back an still exhibits the same overheat probems it is time for you to make decisions. Get a new machine (which is gonna have same problems if you stick with "Thin"-"Stealth" bullderm designs)!
Tear your machine apart wearing out screws trying 100 different pastes which are all 2-3 degrees apart, proven in testing over xxx years.
Put on a set of "Balls" and get the job done. Liquid Metal>Period.
For those that say you only put LM on CPUs cause GPU temps are always lower and dont need it. Bullshit! Look at your heatpipe configuration. For all the advertising (INDEPENDANT COMPONENT COOLING) you will see 97+% of rigs have at least 1 pipe that crosses both dies heatsinks and later models with 2.. The cooler you can keep that GPU, the more heat it will siphon off from the CPU when the heat is on.

Will someone start a "Whats the best Thermal Pad"? Maybe someone in the Tube Squeezer crew will take the ball.

Hello together, I also got my GE76 (i7/3070Ti) recently. And I also faced some thermal spikes during boot-up and idle. I also have a clevo laptop with same specs where i don't have such spikes. Only strange thing i found out, this clevo laptop core's speed goes up max at 4.1GHz which i can't change. I also tried to limit my boost to 4.1 using throttle stop which lowered the peaks a bit but not completely. the most annoying thing about this is, that the Raider always ramps up the fans very lound when such small peaks appears even when i lower the fan courve in msi center. I added two pictures to compare how the temps look like on the raider and the clevo machine.

Does anybody has an idea how can i get rid of those temp spikes?

btw: graphs show: CPUtemp, thermal throttle flag, GPU temp and CPU speed in this order

unfortunately I havent found a solution, the P cores will spike up to 95deg for a split second, even with PL1/PL2 set to 30/50W especially when loading something, or opening up an app cpu heavy

it seems like disabling the Turbo boost resolved this issue for me, when monitoring with Throttlestop my temps were spiking up to 95deg despite PLC 35/50W, resulting in P cores max at around 95 while E cores around 60-70, with turbo boost disabled in Throttlestop I get all cores sitting at around 50-55deg

no. It has a big impact on games. 20-30fps less in some titles

sure, but all you gotta do when gaming is untick this one box OR setup profiles, i think throttle doesnt support it yet, but XTU does have profiles

edit, just realized throttle does use custom profiles, but still u have to make that click

But i agree. Or just select silent mode/super battery when surfing. Does the same thing for fan noise

Silent still kinda makes the fans switch on now and then, I've set up a custom curve in Extreme performance, for my daily use which is usually figma, web so youtube/twitch etc and light adobe suite and this makes the laptop almost dead silent which is perfect for me, and now disabling the boost helped with the occasional fan ramp up too

for the fan settings i set the first three points to 0% for both CPU and GPU which leads to complete quiet PC even for 1h office work, temps rise very slow up to 70 and then fan kicks in for like 20sec and cools back down to 60. As this only happens every 25-30min its totally ok.

What i saw in Throttle stop, that these throttles are coming from the PROCHOT. as this is blinking when i e.g. open just chrome and then the cpu throttles, but only on one core. Also i noticed that the core temps are very different. Is this normal? Also disabling BD Prochot does not change anything

i entered bios and edited the trip points for the fan and Also so it starts throttle st 87c instead of 95. Made alot of difference. No Loud fans anymore
