Can you show me your settings of the trip points? Isnt this overwritten by settings in msi center ?
Enter thermal config for CPU in advanced bios
And set 100 fan speed to activate not on 71c but on a higher value, like 90+ And Also same with next temp trip point that is 75% fans on 55c so raise to 71c or one step higher. Try different and test :) Also i set on same page throttle to 87c instead of 95c to stop spikes. Testing in games as we speak.

my fans run quiet and dont ramp up on youtube and stuff.
I use the curve.
So for me it seems this trip point activate even with curve. :o

By throttling point 95 to 87 you mean the setting passive trip point or TCC to 13? Because i assume the passive trip point only works if below the setting "passive trip points" is enabled, right?

You got a proof of that somewhere? A comment from msi or something?
And is there any way how to get rid of them? Because even if the cpu will stay cool during the spikes becquse of the throttling the fans ramp up (i assume because of platform thermal rules)
If you want to get rid of or hide the spikes you should email Martin Malik. He should be able to help you out. If I was wrong please let us all know!

serveral recommendations pointing now in direction of re-pasting the laptop. The factory paste should be both, not good in transport away the heat and also not applied properly. does anybody has recommendations for a good thermal paste?

how come? does your laptop get hot easily ?

Regarding the paste
yes, Honeywell PTM7950
@seba84_2005 hey man, pls link your Honey findings and experiences

With 30-45W PL1/2 and some BIOS fan settings to make the system quiet, after a full day of using Figma, Ilustrator and playing some cpu heavy Football Manager my temps spiked to 96-100 on P cores, according to the BIOS I think the critical temp for the CPU is around 110 -115 degrees?, the average temp from around 40 jumps to around 50-60 after like 7-8 hours. Is this not normal?

funny because disabling Turbo in Throttle, would make the temps amazing, never spike, and never get above like 60deg

GE66/76 with i9 have liquid metal PTM. I don't think honey would be better on this cpu.
Msi use same like this on cpu:

Which settings for fan /thermal in Bios have you adjusted in order to make the rig quiet?

That is one sorry looking LM Patch you have there. Can you not see that it is ripped on the top center? Clean that off completely with Acetone till it is spotless.
Is that the stock LM I am looking at in the picture? Looks like you been playing around because a machine does not do the job like that. If thats the best you can do for workmanship, your lost my friend ."IT SAYS NOT FOR USE ON LAPTOP" when I read the link.

Your giving bad advise to this guy, That Honeywell is just for Desktops. Dont give advise if you dont know what you are talking about or if it has been proven to work Please!
you jump to conclusions too quickly, although I have to say Seba did phrase it slightly confusing, his friend is using it on a 12th gen desktop and Seba himself is using it on a laptop with 11 gen, there's also a couple threads on reddit about it.

Honeywell is a paste used in industrial machines as well as it's lenovo's default paste since 2021 i think

I will check it out later and send you the bios settings etc

it is becoming slower, but depends what you need it for, for daily light/medium usage its still more than enough, cant see any differences in figma/Adobe or Football Manager thats heavy cpu dependent
