have a Gigabyte GA7DXC motherboard with an AMD 1.2 Ghz proc running Windows XP

I removed a Leadtech Geforce II ultra from the computer and installed a new G4Ti4600. When I tried to install the drivers I have had nothing but trouble. dsiabled startup and removed original drivers using add/remove programs wizard. First, of course the manual is remiss in that it fails to tell you to cancel the Found new Hardware wizard, but I did. Then I click on install VGA Drivers and the screen states that it found a TI460o, lists some file locations and at the bottom states that it is opening a wizard. Then the hard drive and CD access for a while (over a minute) and the original MSI set up screen reappears. I do not get prompted to restart the computer. I restart on my own and let the Found new hardware wizard run and it asks for a file location for NV4_min.sys. I have tried different things. When I select the file in the NVidia3000 directory it does not accept it. When I selected the one from DIR 756 (or whatever) it runs it, but then starts prompting to replace newer files. I state no and it continues install. Then at the end I get a message that the drivers failed to load and a message ?The data is invalid?.

I almost wrote to tell that it did not work, but remembered on epart not included in your answer in case others have the problem. You need to select install from specified location and enter C:Nvidia for the location.

Hi,

I have had this same problem under Win2000, look in the Good-Article forum.
You find a message there called "If you don't know what to do anymore"
In that article you find probably the exact same problem and how I solved it.
