Hello!
I will start by saying that I have an inkling that my problems are caused by a weak PSU. I have an ID-Cooling 650BM (650 Watts, 80+ Bronze) from an old PC. The PSU does have two x8 PSU connectors which split into 2 x 2+6 PCIe connectors.
PC parts:
- Mobo: MSI B550 Pro-VDH (Non-WiFi)
- Ram: Lexar Thor Dark Grey 32GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16
- CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
- SSD: SSD Lexar NM620 1TB
All parts are brand new, and from what I can tell, they function properly. My brother recently upgraded his PC and had an RTX 3070 Ti Ventus 3X to spare, which is the main reason why I built this PC. Before sending it over he tested it and it worked fine.
I tested the PC with an old GPU I had lying around (Radeon HD 7850), and all of the parts worked fine. After swapping in the RTX 3070 Ti, the GPU fans would turn on, however there wouldn't be any video output. On top of that, the VGA warning light would turn on on the motherboard. I did double check to make sure that the GPU is plugged in properly inside the PCIe slot (as it's relatively heavy) and it appears to be all right. I also check all of the PSU cables on my old GPU, swapping them out one by one, and they all appear to function properly.
I'm mainly curious if there is any way to tell if it's just a PSU problem, due to a lack of power, or if the GPU got damaged during shipping.
Thank you!
