I've been reading this forum and there seems to be alot of various problems with these boards. Here is what's happening to me.

When I play games, ie Quake based, WarcraftIII, anything basically with a 3D engine, I get lots of strange polys and lines going various directions. I never see any corruption in Windows. 3DMark2001SE also gets these glitches.

3DMark2001SE gets 8944 score

I put my Visiontek GF3 back in and it works fine scoring 6556 with no glitches

I tried detenator 29.42, and 30.30, no luck.

Aperture is 128, 4x, fast write.

System:
- AMD 1.333 266 FSB
- 512 megs of Crucial PC2100
- Asus A7M266 board running bios 1007
- SB Live! 5.1 Plat
- Adaptec 29160
- Seagate 18gb 15k scsi drive
- Plextor UltraPlex Wide
- TDK 24/10/40X burner
- Maxtor 40 gig IDE
- Intel NIC
- NEC P750 Monitor 1280*1024*32 at 85 Hz in Win2kpro

Card is brand new, out-of-box doing this.

Thanks for any help.

Well, I went into the bios and turned AGP 4x off, which bumps it down to 2X according to 3dmark. This also disables AGP Fast Write (according to 3dmark). I put it through some brutal 1600*1200 Quake and no longer see gfx glitches, 3dmark runs without glitches as well. If I turn 4X back on, they come back.

Just so you know, my board used the AMD761 Northbridge for the AGP, and VIA Southbridge for the IDE portion. I basically install all VIA drivers except AGP, then I install an AGP miniport driver from AMD to satisfy the AGP side. I also patch Win2k for the AGP AMD bug with the registry file.

I loose about 100 marks at 2X, from 8944 to 8858. Not bad considering I don't have the glitches anymore.

So, anyone having these problems with an AMD 760/761 board , this might help yah out. If anyone else has seen this with the same chipset, please let me know.

Any ideas why 4X would cause this?

Thanks
