hi, I am a total newbie when it comes to graphics cards, and I have spent the last week wasting my time trying to get my video in to do something..

I just bought a Geforce4 ti4600 gfx card, and I am running on Windows XP. When I plug my console or vcr into my card, and start the feed, nothing happens...

I have installed the WDM driver that came with the card about.. 4 times now.. And I tried using WinProducer (something i read in another help topic) to get something to display, but with no success.

I have sound atleast :)

anyways thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

well.. i dont know how but i got it to work.

but i have a few problems i would like to take care of..

1. Is there a way to get it to display in full screen mode? (I am using Windows Movie Maker)

2. When I capture or record an image/movie i get the image/movie with a nice big white rectangle in the center of the capture. It displays fine in the program, but the capture result gets this nasty rectangle.

luminare,

Since you are running WinXP I highly suggest you get the nVidia Detonator 4 40.41 Drivers from the nVidia website.

Also if you are going to run WinProducer, you need to install WinCoder. There is also a patch for WinProducer and a Capture Driver for the Card. You can get them here:

MS-8872

Take Care,

Richard

ok well now when i try to start winproducer it says an error has occurred and the program must be shut down. I have installed everything but wincoder tho, I don't know where to find it but ill keep looking.

although i can use windows movie maker still, and when i take screens or record I still get the same white rectangle covering 75% of the image.

ok so i got everything working now, and the wincoder aparently installs with the producer from my cd........ i think...

well producer is working with the patch now.. but i still get that dang white rectangle on everything i capture

there is no option to install wincoder though. the cd says it has it, and it just installs winproducer... i explored the cd and couldnt find wincoder.

is there a place i could download it from possibly?

ok well i downloaded a trial of wincoder, and it does the same thing. big white rectangle... so i dunno what to do.

winproducer runs fine, so it must have everything installed.

what could be causing this white rectangle... :(

The white triangle /white box is a known problem with these later WDM drivers..

A lot of ppl have to use WDM drivers 1.08 or earlier. If u are using 1.11 or 1.16 try going back to 1.08.

Also, sometimes it doesnt like to reinstall that stuff.. so check what version u have in he device manager afterwords to make sure they got changed back.

g'luck 8)

thx :) yea im using 1.16...

1 problem tho... again.. lol

i cant find the WDM 1.08 driver... lol, where can I download it?

Wincoder.....those are simple Divx codecs it is in the InterVideo folder on the 2nd Cd, or go to www.divx.com

I think you get a version of winproducer with the ti cards which has wincoder built in, or thats how I understood it since I don't have it on my cd!

If you can capture video than WinCoder is installed. It is part of the main installation of WinProducer. Your CD should say WinProducer/Coder right on the disc. (At least mine does.) This is bundled this way. When you install WinProducer it installs WinCoder at the same time and you have no controll over it.

I have the same problem... when I capture the video and play it back I get a 1 inch white line through the middle of the recording. When I asked on an earlier post someone thought I was trying to capture a copyrighted dvd or video. I was not...it was just some home vcr movies. I have tried just about all suggestions on the posts and still have this issue. I have a call in 2x to MSI tech support and am hopeful they will call me back. If I get an answer I will post here. I anyone on this post has any fix please let me know. This seems to be a big issue. Many people have problems with MSI cards and video capture.
