I recently upgraded to Windows 11. I am noticing that if I close my laptop lid, the computer automatically goes to sleep. I have checked the Power options and I have selected "Do Nothing" for lid close action in both plugged in and battery modes. This is an issue as when I use external monitor, I typically keep the laptop lid closed and now I am forced to keep the lid open as I am unable to work on the laptop otherwise. Any suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem with my Summit E14. I usually work with two external monitors, but when I am doing some exigent computing, the CPU goes down automatically to ~6% (only when lid is closed). When I open the lid, everything goes to normal. :(

I think your problem is totally different. I heard some MSI business laptops may limit the performance while closing the lid due to thermal concern, Try to update the latest BIOS from MSI website and check if the problem can be fixed or not.

Thank you @Crazydonkey for your inputs. I think I figured out the issue. It is not related to software but is more "hardware" related. There is a flexing near the power button whenever I move the lid - this acts as a pressing of the button and it puts the computer to sleep. I move the lid again and it auto powers on :-( I think this is because the laptop is not well constructed. I do not have this issue with the HP, Lenovo or Asus laptops we have at home though they cost me only a fraction of the MSI.

Have you disassembled the laptop before?
Make sure all the screws have been fixed tightly.

@Crazydonkey,
No, I have not disassembled it or tried removing any screws; the laptop is exactly in the same condition as when I bought it about a year back. In the Windows power settings, I have set the "On press of power button" to "Do Nothing" & I no longer have the problem. MSI construction quality is bad - I did not expect this sort of problem.

If in this case, it should be the quality problem.
Bring your laptop to a service center for a further check.
