Hello, I'm having an issue with my laptop (GF65 Thin UE upgraded to 64GBram and additional SSD for storage).
It randomly turns off, MOSTLY while loading a game or shortly after it has been loaded. I don't suspect overheating as the game we're talking about is GTAIV, + nothing gets hot really. Doesn't matter whether it's a new or an old one though, it has happened with a FIFA23 and SkaterXL or others. It happens in all performance modes (extreme, normal etc).
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/msi-gf65-shutting-down-randomly-no-overheat.361980/ - checked these options - still happening. Updated bios to .105 and no improvement :S Do you have any other ideas?

Hmm, it is a good question i don't have an answer to just yet. I'll see about it later today. What I've found out (not a real breakthrough though) is that in the microsoft event viewer the shutdowns are indeed 'unexpected' = code 6008.

In case it doesn't happen on battery, what would be the possible cause?

I just want to know if it is caused by the battery. If you see the problem in AC mode, the possible cause might be different.
I recommend that you should send the laptop to check further.

I did send it to MSI last year when i still had warranty. Back then it would sometimes the following day after plaing a couple of hours at night. Had another issue with the screen which they fixed. The turning off issue has been checked and 'no issues were found'. Since then I used the laptop significantly less (but still I had many ~5 hour sessions of playing fifa) and it hasn't happened at all. Now that I spent a couple of days using it more, it could turn off twice in an hour or not at all. One thing that might be related, I'm not sure, is that before, I had it running mostly in the 20-60 (best for battery) mode and maybe it was just my feeling but at this setting it would happen more often.

Yesterday I ran a couple of hours of intermittent AC and battery power delivery (battery till 20, AC till it charged up to 80) and it did not happen once. I ran GTA and streamed (watched some games). I can't seem to find a correlation. I'll continue testing the battery, let's see if it happens at some point

Ensure you have a proper cooling room, if using it indoor, I suggest getting a cooling pad for gaming, it works flawless, and don't forget to use the battery more to custom to override auto turn of storage and other things. It helped me a lot it uses for study, with long battery backup and games with highest performace..

If you mean the settings mentioned in the thread I linked in original post then i have all the 'turn off hard drive' set to never. I am using it only indoor, only on hard surfaces (table/desk). Nothing is obstructing the vents, laptop is clean. The power offs have happened while Windows was close to idle. I'd grab the mouse after a moment of AFK and it'd happen.
