Hi all,
My son believes he accidentally entered bios and then switched it off. Since then the laptop only boots to the MSI logo screen, then gets stuck.
I’ve tried rebooting and spam pecking the following keys to access the bios again, but nothing gets me there????
Keys pecked are-
Delete, ESC, F1, F2, F10, F11.

I’m trying to get the laptop working!
I’d welcome any suggestions.

You cannot enter BIOS, but the laptop would stuck on MSI logo whenever you boot on the laptop?
To get into BIOS: reboot the laptop and press "delete" key before MSI logo shows.
Try to use the boot manager to select the boot device to check if it could boot into the system as well.
To enter boot menu: reboot the laptop and press "F11" before MSI logo shows > select the disk with windows system and check if it could boot or not.
If both of the functions do not work, I would recommend as follows:
1. re-install system
2. contact the service center for assistance

Hi Edric
I have tried to process of reboot then press, delete key repeatedly but it just hangs, stuck on the MSI logo screen.
I’ve not managed to access BIOS using delete or any alternative function keys that I have used in previous years and computers.
I’m trying to deduce if it’s a new SSD and windows (ground up) reinstall or something else?
I’ve put an old HDD in that was a boot drive for windows on another machine but this did nothing either?
I usually fathom a route to repair, but this has me stumped???

I’d welcome any other suggestions you or others in this forum may have.

How would I get the info to reinstall the system?
Is an image or a zip available from MSI somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

Refer to the tutorial for installing windows. For the image from MSI, you should contact the service center for assistance.

Before restoring everything, disconnect the CMOS battery to reset to default your BIOS.

Location of CMOS battery on GL63 09:10.

How to disconnect CMOS battery 01:20.

Hi Drek4
Thank you for your support.
I’ve just tried disconnecting the CMOS battery and sadly it still hangs on the MSI logo screen.
And I still can’t access the BIOS.
I’ve tried the manual Bios reset button too, but still not having any joy.☹️.
I’m feeling like something else may be at fault.
I’d welcome any suggestions

Well if you can enter BIOS, reset everything to DEFAULT & SAVE.
Also make sure to remove any password prompts in the BIOS (Security) on a second entry if it still hangs on logo.

If you cannot enter BIOS, turn on laptop, then press on the power button and hold until laptop turns off.
Then press again to turn on laptop, then SPAM the F3 key, until you get into Recovery Mode.

If that don't work, then something was altered in the BIOS that corrupted it.

Thankyou for your help but sadly it’s like the keyboard is not working, I’ve tried an external usb keyboard for this too, but sadly nothing works?

Can you suggest any options to salvage the laptop?
New parts, swapping out things??
I’m open to any suggestions.

Many thanks,

I just fixed a SSD drive that had boot issues. But unlike your problem I could enter the Bios program. To me it looks like your have open up the laptop.
Unplug the battery plugin. Then hit & hold the power button for al least 5 secs. This clears the Bios back to default settings.
Plug the battery back in. Don't put the bottom back on yet, carefully turn the laptop over & make sure the fans are not obstructed.
Turn the laptop on. If everything is still the same. Then next.
Unplug the battery plugin again. Then hit & hold the power button for al least 5 secs. This clears the Bios back to default settings & the power to other parts.
Unscrew the SSD drive & remove the SSD drive. Note, leave the SSD drive out of the laptop!

Remove one or both memory sticks while still leaving the SSD drive out of the laptop!

Turn the laptop on. If everything is still the same. What the above just did was to narrow down if there are defective parts.
Yes, a computer will still go into the Bios program with no memory or hard drives installed.
If your laptop still won't enter the Bios. Then you'll have to do some research to see if there is a way to fix a corrupt Bios with a Bios flash utility.
It would wipe the existing bios then install a new bios. Good luck.

Next, in the worst case scenario the CPU was toasted, if the laptop gets super hot when turned on that's a bad sign.
Also if the CPU is fried it will not go into the Bios program. That aviator picture is the real deal. Just not on the outside & not quite as pictured.
The CPU insides well-burnt toast. No it would not go into Bios. After 15-20 attempts & after all the components were removed in went in a few times then promptly shut down after a few minutes.
Hot, wee-doggies you could fry an egg on it.
