I get error on each system boot up, show error GPT header missing/corrupt , press F1 go to Bio, storage settings. This occur after update to firmware A.60.

I check each hard drive, found no error. Tried rebuilt mbr. still not solve.

Im having the same issue. This issue arose after updating my MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI from 1.30 to 1.60 bios. I can get into windows if I unplug any USB harddrive, but now windows says theres been a hardware change and its not activated anymore. It'd be great to get this fixed.

Not sure what that is but you should have the boot sector recovery policy under settings\advanced, try set it to [Auto] and next boot recovery control to [recovery]

The same thing happened to me. I just updated firmware 7D25vAC for my PRO Z690-A WIFI and got this GPT header missing/corrupt error message. Luckily, I found a solution to this by unplugged all the external USB drives, then reboot my PC and everything was fine again. I will have to downgrade this firmware to the previous one since I nned to have my external USB hard drives installed

I too am getting this error on after upgrading my MAG Z690 TOMAHAWK WIFI DDR4 bios to version 7D32v1C earlier this week. Changing the boot sector recovery policy auto and boot recovery control to recovery doesnt fix it.

The only thing that allows me to boot into windows is to unlug my two 16TB external usb hard drives and then it is good. Its annoying having to do that but its the only thing that works. I Those two hard drives are only for media storage and dont have a bootable partition. Please MSI fix this error!

Seems that setting Boot Sector Recovery Policy [Manual] and Next Boot Recovery Control [Skip] can bypass it.

Yes indeed, thats correct solution for now. I got the same problem with my b660 Tommahawk ddr 4 ( 7D41v2C Biosversion). Especially when enabled fast boot / gotobios settings. I read the solution a bit too late and went to the pcstore first. Hope they'll release a new Bios-update soon.

Btw, is it possible to downgrade your bios(Mflash) ?

Same error with my new Z790 Tomahawk DDR5 - fresh install Windows 11, updated all drivers, BIOS to 7D91vH6 (had plenty of restarts in between and no issues). As soon as I plugged in my external usb hdd (Seagate Firecuda gaming hub) and restarted pc got the GPT missing/corrupted error.

As stated above this fixed the issue for now -

Set "Boot Sector Recovery Policy" to "Manual Recovery"
Set "Next Boot Recovery Control" to "Skip"

Besides the already mentioned downside of these latest Bios-updates, there should also be something positive to mention, f.i. where its updated for;

Description:- Support MSI Driver Utility Installer. - Improved SATA devices compatibility.
Especially regarding the SATA improvement, can you already acknowledge this ? (I think i do)

Hi everyone i have the same problem....i have a z790 carbon wi-fi I made the update to the bios and from that error message ....and if disconnecting external hard drives works.Has anyone managed to solve it?or should I downgrade the bios?

just solved it on mine...i unplugged the external from the red usb ports and put it into a regular usb 3.0 port. booted just fine. the other option of manual and skip didnt help me at all tho :biggthumbsup:

I'm in the same boat as the others here. Running the Z790 Carbon Wifi with newest BIOS and after i connected an external USB drive, this started happening. But the solution that was presented by "tonkatsu_umai" Works. 👌👍
