I am making this post to inform other owners as well as to complain about MSI product support. IMHO owners of this router who care about security should begin checking for updates manually from this point forward. The Qualcomm QCN9024 is not immune to security threats, simply looking at Qualcomm's site shows the series of vulnerabilities that effect this chipset. MSI should be providing purchasers of this router robust support and maintenance by keeping this firmware up to date.
This router purchase was my first foray into MSI's networking products and thus far I am not impressed. Between having to regularly restart once per week in order to maintain decent performance, something my Asus router never required, to the most recent problem of it failing to recognize that there is a firmware update available. A firmware update has apparently been available since May of this year, just over four months ago. When logging into the control panel and doing a manual check it still claims the old firmware, version 723375 released on 1/20/25 is the most current when in fact version 751242 was released on 5/5/25. The only reason I became aware of this is after several checks resulted in no update notification I became suspicious and wondered if I had purchased a product that had been abandoned by the manufacturer. After checking the support page I discovered the newer version.
My other issue has to do with the lack of information about the newest firmware update. While the previous firmware has a decent description of what was fixed the most recent firmware description simply states "bug fix?" How lazy can this be? What vulnerabilities were addressed? Anything significant from those listed on Qualcomm's security/vulnerability site? Frustrating. I plan to get as much use as possible out of this router and then switch to an open firmware and when it comes time to upgrade, walk away from MSI networking products. As I said, I am not impressed.
