gt 780r eats battery while it's shut down..

Is it just mine or everyone's? My battery life goes down even it's shut down. I left my gt780r for 2 days, it ate around 30% of my battery.. I left 5 days off in my backpack and when I turned it on today, my battery life was at 11%. Is something wrong with my gt780r or what? :(
 
I did shut down. I checked multiple times. Is my battery defected or something? I even checked power settings and it's all set in shut down. :(
 
Turn off the I-Charger function that powers up the USB ports while it is off?
 
I have noticed this as well. I left it off for two days (it was fully charged) and it was down to 70% when I turned it on. Any answers on this? I don't have the iCharger loading at present so I don' think it would be that.
 
I don't have i-charger either. In fact, I did fresh install OS so I have zero bloatware on mine but only a must ones.
 
iCharger is a Bios setting, not a driver setting.  On my GE620, atleast...
 
Keep the charger plugged in as much as you can, why do you remove it?
But 30% is a lot, maybe wake-up on lan was enabled somewhere?
 
I put chargers in all the time when I use this laptop but obviously, I don't leave this plugged in when I don't use it coz it goes into my laptop back. Why in the world this laptop do this? My gt660r or gt680r never had this problem. I probably need to RMA my battery but then again, I see it's not just me who's having this problem. Did something go wrong during manufacturing process or is this something fixable with bio/firmware update?
 
nope.. never. lowest I've got to was 35% when I left it in my back for 5 days without using it. I am having so much trouble with my 780r. It drains battery 15% or so a day even it's off and it's raid 0 speed is 25% slower than gt660r or gt680r. I just don't like this supposedly superior laptop actually performs much worse in some area. Can anyone clarify why I am only getting 150mb/s on both sequential writing and reading when gt660r and gt680r getting 200mb/s for both sequential writing and reading on crystaldisk mark test? This suppose to be same 7200rpm drive in here and yet it's 25% slower and there's noticiable lag on window boot that I don't have on gt660r or gt680r. I've got mine from xoticpc.com which is pretty high named notebook retail so I don't think they messed something up here. I will most definitely rma my battery if it's not some firmware or setting issue.. and possibly whole laptop coz this 25% slower hdd speed is bothering me a lot.
 
Sorry but during startup it uses a lot of power, so if you leave it at 35%, after startup it could be drained to 20% because the startup power-consumption.
200MB/s? With 2 laptop drives? Sorry, that ain't gonna happen. Drives aren't that fast.
A typical RAID0 speed of 2 drives is arround 150 on a desktop, but that's about it, laptops are mostly even slower.
I seriously doubt your benchmark being right.
If you want to compare 2 machines on RAID, use Atto.

In my opinion there is nothing wrong with your battery, if you want to know if it's good or not, charge it 100% and start Windows while on PSU power.
Then remove the PSU and watch until it reaches 10% while surfing the internet, a standard battery should last about 1.5 ~ 2 hours.

A lot of people forget that startup takes a lot of power and think the battery is drained while it's the startup that drains it.
Seek the forum, people complain it's 100% charged but after startup 90% is left, but that is how much a Windows start takes....it's a lot.
 
I didn't leave it at 35% battery life when I shut down. I was saying that was the lowest battery life % it ever gotten too. I always charge to 100% b4 I shut down and I don't think leaving turned off computer for 5 days and powering back on would take 60% of battery life. As for raid 0 speed, I am not lying. Everytime I buy new laptop, I do all kind of benchmarking test and take screen shot of it. I ran crystaldisk 3 times on gt660r, gt680r and gt780r and that's how it turned it out to be. I actually freaked myself too for how fast gt660r and gt680r was when I ran crystaldisk test and they had like zero lag on window boot up unlike gt780r. In any case, whether it's raid controller problem or hdd problem, I can live with it since it doesn't have huge effect on laptop life but battery draining is different issue. It just isn't right battery draining so fast even it's not in use. I am just gonna rma..
 
I'm not saying you lie, just saying your benchmark does ;)
Run Atto next time, it will give the right numbers.

As for draining, weird, almost like it's not turning off but stay in Sleep or standby, as those states may look like it's off but it's not.
How fast does your machine go from BIOS to Desktop?
Is it a minute of just a few seconds?

Just to show you why your benchmark is wrong, I did 2 benches with Atto, the left is a harddisk and the right is an SSD (desktop so faster then laptop).
Oh and, I included Atto as download to make you happy, some say it's old, but it's better then what you use.
As you can see, a single harddisk barely does 75MB/s, so a pair in Raid0 won't even come close to 150, 120~130 would be more right.
If you want speed, put an SSD in ;)

I should have screenshot somewhere too. as for start up speed, it takes around a min to bio screen to windows 7 functional state. If it's sleep or standby, I would've noticed too. I don't press power button shut down but I do it on start button and go to shut down that's located bottom left part of windows 7 screen. I checked my power option too on control panel and what happens when you press power button to shut down. I went to bio on boot screen(press del) but didn't see anything that might cause battery drop or i-charger option there.. This is my 3rd msi laptop and this is first time I am having this trouble. :(
 
Where all the others W7 too?
Did you check the drivers if they shutdown?

See screenshot, did you check those???
As they can stay on even after power-down....if not makered to powerdown. (there are others too)

I have done some testing and reached the following conclusions:

1. Shutting off the iCharge in the bios does seem to stop the battery drainage. Two overnight tests showed the battery stayed at 97% and 98% overnight with it off, and mid 80's with it on.

2. This baloney about the machine drawing the battery down 10% just to boot up is just that baloney.
