Thank you for the informative reply, I really appreciate it.

What if I do a reset using the Recovery tool thats in Windows? Would that wipe both drives and let me choose where to install the OS?

Please don't do that, and no it won't do that. Personally I would take out the hdd and leave it out until you have a usb cable. Hopefully the sdd will work, if not you still have the hdd to fall back on.

Ok, I wont do that.

Any reason why the SSD wouldnt work? Any chance that I bricked it or something?

The hardware is fine, this is all to do about settings. The ssd and hdd are not at risk from physical damage if installed gently.

So re-installing windows on the SSD from a USB should work just fine, right?

Also, should I be updating my bios?

Yes on both counts, providing you only have the ssd in there. Install Windows first before the bios and firmware updates since we know that works already.

Sending this message from a fresh Windows install on the SSD, with the HDD out of the laptop.

I was looking at the bios install, but the BIOS download page said:
"For Legacy None RAID SKU. If your system BIOS version is E16F4IMS.100 ~ E16F4IMS.108, please must update BIOS to E16F4IMS.10V before you update to the latest version E16F4IMS.11X "

I have none of those. What the heck do I do? None of the BIOS there have the version that I have.

Wow, there are so many bios versions I don't know which if any you are meant to install! 50v is the closest but not exact match. You might have to do a new thread or just leave it be for now.
Yea, pretty scary haha. I hope someone from MSI customer service could help me. Wouldnt want to brick my laptop

There's only one person that I would trust to know and that's @Svet But they are quite busy, maybe they see this. Otherwise I'd leave it for now, computer is working.

Download them from nvidia, intel and realtek etc directly.

Been doing that for the past few hours. Its a pain.
The laptop has bluetooth, but I had to go find the driver because Windows didnt install it, and keep saying things are up to date, when in fact, its not.
I wonder if there is a service or software that does that. Even the Intel driver software couldnt detect half of the drivers that are out of date.

Well as the laptop is a few years old, there might be some challenges. Still hopefully it all works well enough.

So far it works great. A restart and back into Windows is under 10 seconds or so, used to take over a couple of minutes I think. Huge performance boost, was a good idea to upgrade the hardware, and a fresh Windows without the crap that I accumulated. Trying to upgrade everything I can now to make it even better. Had a choice of investing about 200 Canadian$ to refresh this laptop, or 2000CAD for a new setup. I think I made the right choice with the investment.
