I read your post in the notebook review forums and was wondering if this fix can be used for the gt683r as im having the same issue.  Also wanted to know if there is a different driver for the sentelic touchpad because msi has version 9.0.48 for both the gt683r and the gt780r which have different trackpads.  I believe the gt780r has a multitouch trackpad were the gt683r has a single touch trackpad.  I tried installing the driver from download page but i get a error on boot and it disables touch to scroll feature, which tells me its the wrong driver.

warner, this fix works well, but it still jumps at times for me, rather randomly.  the occurrence is greatly reduced from previously though.   :)

the thing that seems 'buggy' to me (and drives me crazy) about the pad device is when using the side vertical scroll function, if i happen to stop on a web link, for example, with the mouse after the scroll finishes, it will automatically click the link upon letting go of the touchpad although i don't tap it (as you would to click a link manually).  does this make sense?  it will do this consistently.  :(

i see this is a beta, will you be posting updates here as things get ironed out?  thanks!

Hey, I have a GT780R and yesterday the mouse jumping issue started to show up and made my touchpad unusable, ended up here and updated the driver and the registry patch but I gotta say that the issue still shows up randomly, makes it annoying. Also the tap to scroll functionality seems to be missing. Hope you can reach a fix fast. Thanks.

The percise issue I'm facing now is that the mouse randomly stops, have to remove my finger and put back on so I can regain control.

Hello Warner, I'm new to this forum as well as to MSI. My GT780R touchpad was OK. I wasn't getting the jumping that others described, but I was getting an unresponsive touchpad at times. I updated the drivers from the top of this page and worked with that for a day to see if there was any improvement. I couldn't tell. Then, just today, I tried the patch to the registry. After I restarted my computer, I noticed that I just started getting the jumping problem that the others described. I decided to call the 888 number you had listed, and after listening to the initial options, it told me I couldn't continue unless I registered my product. I went through the entire process and I will be mailing out the forms today, but I really don't want to wait for the postal service in order to get this problem taken care of. It really has slowed my workflow considerably. Has there been any other drivers or patches? Thanks.

So far, as of right now, the registry patch seems to have fixed the jumping touchpad issue (which started up 2 days after I received the unit).

In my case, my touchpad couldn't seem to handle small mouse movements, jumping a bit further than it should have for such minute movements.

Sidenote to the OP:
Could you please put in the text of the first post that you need to register an account for the forum to download the patch?  I was banging my head against the wall trying to find the patch, finally taking a leap of faith and signing up to hopefully see the download.

Edit:
It only fixed it temporarily.  Problem is back :(...seems to come and go, but it is not as bad as it was before the reg patch.

For the most part I dont see the problem.  It only happens every once in a blue moon now, and only very briefly - not much of a problem.

But the touchpad has become very finicky.  I find it hard to register a virtual scroll down or up.

Is there any way to improve the sensitivity of it?  Moreover, anyway to make it more smooth and not a page down/up function?

First off, why can't I edit old posts...ugh.

Anyway, the patch did not fix it 100%...it comes and goes and when it comes it stays for a while.  The problem seems to lie in the fact that there are hidden boundaries with the touchpad.  When going left-right, there seems to be a vertical boundary right down the middle that when you cross it I get a jump.  Similarly going up-down there is the same issue.

I haven't mailed the forms for registration yet because I'm hesitant to cut the UPC barcode out as I want to make sure I'm keeping the computer.  So as a user above alluded to, calling the tech support number will probably yield a message that I haven't registered my notebook yet.

I just purchased GT683R

I installed touchpad driver: http://www.msi.com/service/download/nbdriver-16698.html

I re-booted and got Error Message after Windows7 start-up:

"Driver isn't suitable for use. Remove and update new one. (ID:0xD2)"

Can you give me different or original driver I can re-install?

Me too...

I have a brand new GT683-278A with a custom Win7 64-bit installation and I get teh same error message.  If I disable the program from the startup items the message doesn't appear, but I don't have full functionality of the touchpad.
PS: I really want the program so I can use it properly, but do not want the system tray icon.  There doesn't seem to be any way to turn this off in the current version.

You can install original touch pad driver from utilities and drivers disc that came with notebook.  I contacted msi about them having the wrong driver on there website, being that is for muti touch trackpads which the gt683r is not.  Just install original driver from driver disk then install patch from this forum.
