Hello All,

I was wondering if my temperatures on the card are normal?
In idle its 28-31c, and under full load its mostly around 80-83c.

The ambient temperature is 21c and i have 2 intake fans in the front of my case and 1 outlet on the back.
My pc is standing on my desk with plenty of space on 3 sides including the front and back.
Also i make my pc dust free every 6 months and just did it last week.

I have the following card:
MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Ventus XS 6G OC

Some insight of people who have the same card would be welcome.
Thanks in advance!
Tinus

Two things to consider:
  • Max safe operating temperature for Turing cards is 88 C
  • You have purchased a budget model (at least that's what I have seen mods/admins here claim about the ventus lineup) that is also of an "extra small (XS)" form factor – both of these result in poorer cooling capabilities
As such, the temperatures under full load seem reasonable.

P.S. A moderator will move this thread elsewhere as you do not have a "gaming" class GPU.

Thanks for the reply.
All the benchmarks i look up of this card are way below this temp.
So im thinking maybe the cooling paste on it has dried up or was badly applied.

Some experience from people with the same card would be nice.

What is considered a gaming card btw then lol?

Generally cards with "gaming" in the product name.

the temps you state are very normal. the card is aiming under a heavy GPU load to reach 80-83C as it will constantly up its power and clocks till it either runs out of power limit or hits a Temp Limit or it becomes unstable using Nvidia GPU Boost will be overclocking itself automatically. when you see 80-83C what are your GPU Clock Speeds?
