Hello there,

Thank you.

And any experiences with Windows AMI Flash Utility?

Don't use it, if it wasn't directly recommended by the laptop (PC) vendor.

Besides, booting from (DOS) bootable USB stick a flashing the BIOS from there is like 30 second thing for a trained monkey, not to mention user able to write on forum :)

No worry, it's really easy... just read all the docs about it and you should be fine.

No, I uses Vista, but I am planning to use more than 2GB of RAM and my current BIOS don't support it.

Oh... didn't knew that was an issue. Btw, you have to go to x64 to really get use of over 3GB (and more) of memory.

Yes I know. :) Not an idiot, though it looks like that.  :) Only little nervous about flashing BIOS, don't want make paperweight from my nb, so asking rather than screw up it. I am used to use dual BIOS from desktop at gigabyte motherboards, but here I haven't even FDD.

Calm down, my friend, I just mentioned it! ;) I don't even think that the fact that someone doesn't know this stuff makes him idiot.

However, I stopped using FDD six years ago - used bootable CD-RW instead first, that I started to use bootable USB stick for this purpose. It's much faster, safer and simply more comfortable than FDD or boot CD.

So there is my reference. Done but strange.
I flashed new BIOS, went ok. Reboot and got checksum error.
I found there in the forum, that I must load default settings and save and quit.
But bad checksum was here again. System was able normaly to boot and use.
But everytime when reboot or turn on notebook, there was checksum error message.
And I wasn't able save changes in BIOS which I made.
So I reflash my original backuped BIOS. Bad checksum again appear.
Now I do again enter to BIOS, load defaults ans save and quit.
Now, for original BIOS it works. Message about bad checksum is gone.
But with newest BIOS I wasn't able to solve it.

So my problem was solved.
I must checked options
"Program all blocks" and "Destroy CMOS checksum" . After that bad checksum message after reboot appear, proceed to the BIOS, load defaults, save and quit and next time, everything is ok, bad checksum is gone and BIOS settings are changeable.

Thanks to longo213 and very thanks to BOSSKILLER, which contacted me himself and helped me personaly step by step.  :worship:

Hi to everyone!

To cosinusx:
How did you manage to solve the CMOS Bad Checksum issue.
I have the same problem i don't know how to manage it.
What flashing tool did you use?
Help me please!  :shocking:

Normal procedure:

Go into the BIOS and then choose Save....
If it doesn't work, you might need to flash as done above.

I used AMI Flash Utility from AMI BIOS homepage.
For completeness:

Hello,

Thanks cosinusx on response, I'll try that AMI utility.
But, before proceed to BIOS flasing, there are still some issues to resolve.
First, what was your old bios version? What is new BIOS version?
My current version is 10d and tried to upgrade to 10k, downloaded from MSI's site.
The main reason for that is problem with Intel Turbo Memory.
I just can't figure it out how to make it work for more than few minutes.

Best regards

Hello,
My old version was 1.0D. Now I have actual 1.0K, because I use Vista. I hadn't problems with previous BIOSes and haven't problem even now. Turbo Memory works all the time.
Did you have right drivers and use Vista?

hello,
I installed drivers from MSI install CD and notebook worked fine for some time. Suddenly a blue screen appeared and computer shut down. Afterwards, Windows Vista 32-bit loaded normally, but Intel Turbo Memory Console showed Windows ReadyBoost and ReadyDrive were both greyed and disabled. I run Device Manager and it listed Intel Turbo Memory Controller under Storage controllers as present but with yellow warning sign on it. Then hit Properties and it showed following problem under Device status "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". So, I taught that was a driver issue. Downloaded ITM_ALL v1.1 from Intel's site, but it appeared as worse than the previous 1.0.802 version; an old version worked shortly, but new driver wouldn't even start. Is there anyone who's familiar with the problem to help me?  :wall:

Best regards to all forum members.
