Hi all

I encountered a problem when attempting to install XP Pro. More precisely setup process can't find any HDD, and that's because I need SATA drivers. My question is where do I find SATA drivers for my GX700? I googled everywhere... :undecided:

Thanks in advance.

I found that out in the meantime, but I'd like to install those drivers. :)

I also found out which controller it is, Intel 82801 HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E), but I still can't find any drivers for it. Can anyone upload those for me somewhere please?

Why? It won't go any faster or anything.
There is little point in trying.
Also, how are you going to install those drivers?
You need to use a floppy (not installed!) or slipstream those drivers, that will take you a whole lot of time while the result of all this is nothing.

I already set everything for slipstreaming, which is quite easy to do.

Oh well, guess I'll have to disable AHCI.

Well if you realy must use it, here are the drivers if I'm not mistaken:

You could bench both and see if it matters, my prediction is it doesn't ;-))

I already started installation.

Otherwise, I got those (RAID/AHCI Software - Intel? Matrix Storage Manager) files, but I can't extract them. I also got some floppy disk creator (32-bit Floppy Configuration Utility for Intel? Matrix Storage Manage), funny thing is I have 2 PC's in the house and both have non functioning floppy. That's why I wanted someone to upload them drivers.

What is the process of enabling AHCI after Windows is installed?

Just as an information, the method above, enabling AHCI, did not work (Mobile P965). Didn't want to boot.

for me that method works on gx700, now xp switched to ahci, also you can "rebuild" xp installation with this specific sata driver, goggle for solution with nLite.

I did that already.

I slipstreamed drivers onto XP install CD using nLite. For anyone doing it make sure you set drivers to be implemented as "Textmode" not "Regular PnP drivers".

What I also had to do is delete existing windows/partition and reinstall windows completely.

Sure, why not....
I tested Vista to see what it did and was, but it's buried now and never to be looked at again until end 3007 :lol_anim:
