Great laptop, but I have a couple questions.

1. What software is needed to use the button to open the damn DVD tray (mine is not working with all stock bloatware). MSI never do this again with a laptop, get a physical button on the DVD drive.

2. Got my GX780 in Canada, mine does not have dual hard drives. Do I still have the dual slot to add an SSD?

1 Nothing is needed, Windows itself can do that or you simply press the button on the drive.

2 If you have the R version yes.

Here's an article on how to create a shortcut to open a CD/DVD drive(and you can create a keyboard shortcut for that commmand).

I dont think you understand this laptop. It has an eject button but it is in the dashboard beside the power button. There is no button on the dvd drive itself. So windows needs software to be able to tell what this button does ( which is open the dvd tray)

Can anyone with a GT780 or GX 780 chime in?

It was a very stupid thing they did leaving the physical button off the drive, but that is the way it is so you have live with it. I go into explorer and open it that way when I need to use.

Did you remove SCM by any chance? When did the button stop working?

In Windows, the S-Bar 2 software is required for the Eject button to function.

Thank you Stu. S-bar was the problem. I didn't like it on my screen so I uninstalled it. Got it back and the eject button is now working.
