Hi... Hope that someone out there can help me with this one...! Personnally I haven't encountered anything like it before...!

I just bought an MSI Mainboard for P4 processor along with a bunch of other components.
(MS-6580-A10)

I have pieced it all together as it should be, but...

- When the computer is off, my screen says check video cable...! When I power on, the screen goes to sleep mode.

I have tested all of the components (Processor, RAM, Graphics, etc. in another machine, and they work perfect. (The other machine is build by my self from the same components.) ?(

Anyone with an idea?

that means the montor is not seeing a computer.. might be a bad video card... or computer is off... or bad monitor cable..

you might wanna post this in the P4 forum.

I assembled one machine just like this one two weeks ago for my brother... No problems.

Then I assembled one for myself and got this problem... So I pulled out every component and tested them in my brothers computer...! They work perfect.

So I thought... Heay... Its the board...! I had it replaced with the newest available but the same problem occured.

The monitor runs perfect on any other machine, including the one I build for my brother.

Any ideas?

You could have a spare stand off under the board causing a short circuit (count them from the back side and compaire the number with the screws you see on the top).


Using only the board + mem + CPU (using o/b VGA) try to get it to post.
If it fails try using the PSU and mem from the second computer.
