hard drive wont boot

ghello all noob here. first build. msi a88x-g45 mb, 4gb amd radeon sticks of ram, WD 1tb hdd, amd processor. everthing went together and it posts, but when using old hdd it gets to the windows logo, freezes and restarts. the drive is good because im using now in my old rig. i think it recognizes the new and old drive because i can see it in my bios. any ideas on what im doing wrong?

Are you trying to boot with the old Windows setup on an old rig with the new machine? If so it is no wonder that it freezes. Freshly install Windows on the new machine.

yeah i was either trying to be acheap bastard and not buy windows or a total noob thinking it would just boot right up. i guess another $100 wont kill me

Well, if the Windows is genuine you can simply reinstall it.
