Hey Guys,

I have a MSI GP60-2QFi585FD that is a little over 1 year old and I am having a lot of problems with it.  I am not sure if this is a technical, or software issue. So i am not sure whether or not I should go for the warranty service or if it just my problem. I tried the support from MSI but so far it was not able to solve things.

Few points I got Windows 10 installed and the regular 500gb HDD was exchanged for a 500gb SSD (Samsung EVo 850).

Problem i am having is both with malfunctioning speakers which scrambles up since about 6 months however with headphones it works fine.

2nd but the bigger concern is performance, I bought this laptop with gaming in mind. I never expected super performance on highest setting but I always imagined that on medium/low settings there should be no issues. I reguarly play WOW Legion and Overwatch and on both I can barely play the game on low settings. Meaning it works however as soon as things start moving faster either many players or too many mobs the game goes under 10 fps. I know it is not the internet since on my desktop I have no issues. I would really like to solve this since right now this expensive laptop is performing more like a mediocre 400 euro asus laptop.

I have checked some of the obvious things that are normally suggested. Such as removing and reinstalling the newest drivers for both the audio system but also for my Graphic cards.

I figured that for the Performance that it seemed that the computer was not really using the NVIDIA GTX 950M but only the INTEL graphics however according to the support I got that I need to enable the high performance mode and see a red light on power button for NVIDIA enabled and blue for easy going intel graphics, that seem to be working normally.

What I am hoping is that you might be able to point me in right direction(hardware? -> part of warranty?, software? -> Drivers?Win10?) or maybe even more detailed help.

Thank you in advance

The gtx 950m is not really, a hardcore gaming laptop graphics card.
Make sure that when you are installing new drivers to use DDU to completely delete your initial Geforce Drivers and do a full reinstall in safe mode after deleting the initial drivers that you have installed, otherwise previous settings, and Kernel's from your initial driver installations could be messing with your new driver settings.
But I know for a fact that with the games that you are running, especially with Overwatch, you should be  getting a steady 40-60 FPS on Medium settings, in 1080p.
There is also no reason that you should be running into any kind of CPU bottleneck, if you at least have a core i5 CPU.
Another issue you may be having is the gtx 950m graphics card may not be supported by NVidia anymore, as it is pretty much a rebranded gtx 750ti, on paper.
In this case, you will want to go to Notebook Video 2 go, and installing the latest drivers which are known to be supported, or are modified to play on your computer.
Always make sure you run DDU to make sure you have none of your old drivers installed.
Make sure you go into Nvidia control panel and set your global settings to what is recommended in GeForce experience.
If you have trouble after this please inquire about more questions regarding your computer.

Make sure you also go to the MSI site and download the latest Nahimic drivers in order to be able to output our sound correctly.

George,

The MSI support said to look into sending the laptop to a service center. I have yet to receive a reply on whether or not that would be within my warranty or would involve extra costs. I really like your answer though and will try this and I am happy to know that I am not wrong in expecting certain performance from my laptop. Thank you.
