Here is my configuration.

MSI Geforce4 Ti4400 128MB
AMD 2100+XP
Giga-byte 7v-rxp KT333 motherboard
Kingston 512MB PC2700 DDR RAM
350W AMD certified PS
WindowsXP Pro

I have tried all versions of drivers including 27.XX to the latest 30.00 and installed the latest DirectX8.1b driver which supposely fixed the Direct3D bug on AMD's CPU. It basically crashes on every Direct3D games, and it couldn't finish 3DMark2001 benchmark.
I don't think it's the heat problem because I have even tried to detune down the card to 500MHz memory and 250MHz core. It still locks up. Do you guys have any clues what's going on?

I not an expert on computer by any means, but I will say this. I had a GA7-vrxp motherboard and I RMA the darn thing because it would not work. I experienced the same problems that u are having. I replaced it with a MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU and its been smooth sailing ever since. I would like to suggest that u go to www.amdmb.com and go to their motherboard forum and read up on this mainboard.

AMD 1800+
400 watt PSU
KT3 Ultra-ARU
MSI G4 ti 4400
256 M Micron PC2700

ok i have pretty much the same problem except with a ti4600 with the kt3 ultra, so i dont think getting the kt3 will help you much. Like you I've also tried every driver.....

I also thought it was heat- since the games will run for a little bit then crash. when i tuned the clock speeds down it allowed me to play games a few mins longer, but i dont think it should be necessary to have to tune down just to keep from crashing. I'm thinking mabey we got defective cards- not sure though

same boat :(

It is possible that the card is bad, however it is common knowledge that Gigabyte first mainboards with the KT333 chipsets turned out to be bad. Not all of them but most of them are. It seems that there are bad voltage regulators installed on the board. When I replaced mine with the KT3 Ultra-ARU, I kept the same G4ti4400 card and it works great now. Gigabyte has come out with a new GA7-VRXP (rev 2.0) that is supposed to fix all their problems. I had a rev 1.1 that was supposed to do the same, but it did not work. I would try replacing the video card first, and I hope thats all it is.

I have:
MSI TI400
Gigabyte - GA-7VRX.
Using Det29.42 and 4in1 V4.40
AMD 1800
SB Audigy
256Megs of PC 2700
Windows XP...

I always lock up in AGP2x and 4X, but running at AGP1X is great. I can O/C my card and set my PC2700 RAM to fastest settings. Get 3DMark of around 10500

So... Try these drivers, and change AGP to 1x in your BIOS settings.

P.S. Have you gotted your TV-out to work? I try to hook only into my TV (no monitor) and I can see the screen, but's it's only 4 colors, and the computer things my TV is a default monitor. The n-view tab in display properties is missing so I cannot go to change it to TV output!

I have it fixed now :D
I increased the vcore voltage by 5%. It's all running fine now, and I got 10612 3D marks w/o O/C. Hope this help for other ppl.

my system:
XP 1800
GIGABYTE GA 7 VRX
SAMSUNG DDR 333 2X256MB
CREATIVE TI 4400
SB LIVE 5.1
MAXTOR ATA 133 40GB
PSU 300W
WIN 98

THE FIRST TI4400 I BOUGHT DIDNT BOOT AT ALL WITH THIS SYSYTEM BUT RUN FINE ON OTHER SYSTEMS. AFTER RMA SWAPING CARD THE GF4 BOOTS NORMALY BUT AFTER 1-2 MINUTES OF GAMING, OR WITH NO REASON I HAVE RESETS OR LOCK UPS, FREEZINGS ETC.
WHEN I PUT AGP X1 RUNS A LITTLE BETTER BUT NO BIG DIFFERENCE. I AM VERY DISAPOINTED AND AFTER TRYING EVERYTHING (BIOS, DRIVERS UPDATES, SETTINGS BIGGER PSU, V CORE INCRESING) I SOLD THE M/B AND I AM ABOUT TO BUY AN MSI KT3. WHEN I HAVE RESULTS I WILL BE BACK. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU. X(

I just bought the msi 4200 and I am experiencing the same problems you guys are talking about. I went into my bios though but it doesnt have the agp speed setting. I was wondering for those people that fixed this problem, what are you guys doing to fix it?

Sounds like your PSU is too small.
The fact it is AMD certified means nothing unless it is certified for YOUR CPU!
Even then there are boarderline cases that in case you have high power demends from other components won't hold up.

I HAD it from this card .......... :O
every time i start a game it crash and the system all restart even after downloading the latest 30.30 driver from this  site plz guys im gona throw this PC as a whole from the window .... i even update the bios
