I own a MSI Trident 8906 Intel Core i5 desktop PC running Windows 10. After a series of updates over the past couple of days, when the system rebooted the mouse stopped working properly - it will not allow me to select or click, even in safe mode. I am reasonably tech savvy, so I did an online search for this issue, then tried using the SFC and DISM commands in safe mode. There were no corrupts registry files found, and the image renewed without problems. Rebooted - same issue. Tried to restore to an earlier point, failed. I have sent a message requesting support from MSI, but as this seems to be a widespread issue I wondered whether anyone here had experienced anything similar, and what you did to resolve it? Clearly there is not much I can do without being able to select or click anything, so I have pretty much lost the use of my PC - hence the urgency!
Thanks in advance for any support ;)

I am going to reply to my own post, as perhaps it will help someone else out with a similar issue: I eventually switched mice, and it worked :). The mouse I was using was not faulty, but the latest Windows 10 update apparently does not support older HDI devices, and mine unfortunately was one of these. What I find confusing is that the mouse which I am now using is actually an older model, but being probably a better make there is support for it, and not for the more recent mouse, but from a less well known manufacturer. This problem had me really worried, because it was like having an overlay over each window, so that the pointer would highlight areas, but clicking had no effect anywhere on the screen, even though the background would respond to mouse-overs etc. In short, extremely frustrating. I hope this will be of some help to someone out there.

This symptom is newer OS not support older device.
One is use older OS version.
other is use newer device.
