So I have a Z490 Godlike, 10700K, Coolermaster MasterLiquid 360 AIO. Could someone help me setup the BIOS with a decent configuration. 4.9 - 5.0GHz stable ? I'd like a constant clock speed, no power saving or lowering of the clock speeds.

Should EIST, C State, Speed shift, etc all those be switched off. Also virtualization tech ?

That’s a really good question. The AMD related topics appear to be spread across those two forums.

Unfortunately, the last time I built an AMD system, it was shortly after the wheel had been invented. :( I’m also much more of a budget computing kind of guy - I guess that’s because I’m a Scot at heart. So I’m not going to be much use when it comes to all those premium components. RGB is also not really my thing, either. But not to worry. I’m confident that there are lots of experienced users in the two forums you mentioned.

I guess my biggest advice for you is to not jump into that ”new tech” pond until you start to see a clear trend of maturing BIOS releases. In my opinion, there are simply too many low-level incompatibles at present. And I’m sure that you don’t want to add any more stress to your life if you can avoid it. Hopefully, the shop you get to build your new system will be both competent and a great resource for the life of the system.

In regards to you AIO choice, make sure it is compatible with the latest MSI motherboards. The Arctic LF3 is an odd animal compared to the previous gen. Check the Arctic website for more details.
Thanks I appreciate all your help. I'm really glad you asked this question too about the LF3. I just checked their website and this is what I was presented with their cooling assistant. 9800X3D isn't listed ? There is no Ryzen 9000 series to choose from. Why are there no Ryzen 9000 options ? Just googled it and found a Reddit post. Apparently the offset plate that comes with the cooler will work for all 7000, 8000, 9000 CPU's. So because it's AM5 socket it doesn't make a difference. So it should fit. The only other warning from them is the M.2 cooler on certain motherboards might get in the way. I'll be using a Samsung 990 Pro Evo so I don't think that would be a problem since it doesn't have a huge cooler on it. My X870E Godlike motherboard is on the compatibility list aswell. So I'm glad about that.

Actually, I just checked Arctic's website again. It looks like my concern is unfounded. I was not using their search criteria correctly. You have to put the model series (MAG, MPG, MEG) in the search otherwise it only finds a few MSI motherboards. The LF3 looks like it is very compatible with both the Intel and AMD MSI motherboards. Sorry to send you on a wild goose chase. But hey, you just taught me something. Now who's the student? ;)

That's great 😃 I'm happy about that. I posted a new thread in MSI MEG, MAG, MPG for my new build. However no one has replied yet. I'm still confused on how you find on G.SKILL's website single rank DDR5 kits. So I can populate all four channels on the new board. I'm really looking for the fastest timings, highest bandwidth single rank kits. Is there any clue in the names. Because MSI is a long drawn out compatibility list which is taking forever to search and understand. But I'm trying to find single rank kits on G.SKILL own website. Do you know anything about this ?

I think G.SKILL makes it difficult to find out the 1R/2R config, just like they like to hide the memory chip manufacturer (Samsung, S.K. Hynix, Micron) as well as the memory type (A, M, etc.). And to make matters worse, they can sometimes change specifications without notice. Citay might know how to spot 1R/2R config from the name. Otherwise, you have to just rely on online reviews and user reports on forums like this one and Reddit.

The SIDED column on the MSI compatibility list might be a reliable indicator of dual/single rank for DDR5. Again, hopefully Citay can confirm.

Just googling and using Reddit. I found people saying 2X16GB kits or 2x24 kits are single rank or single sided. And 32GB and up are dual sided. I'm not sure either. I suppose I should look to 2X16GB kits and buy two sets of them. 16 32 48 64GB total.

If I go for the 8000 kit, CL 38 seems to be the fastest timings GSKILL do. So two lots of 2X16GB of these.

If I go for the safe 6000 CL 26 seems to be the quickest timings GSKILL do. So two lots of 2X16GB of these

And the 6400 kit.

Ok. These seem to be the fastest kits on GKILL's website. Whether they are still available I don't know. Are they single rank kits ? I don't know.

I would imagine that you can still make the claim that nearly all available 16GB DIMMS should be single rank. Dual-rank DDR5 is fairly new.
Be careful. Unlike DDR4, DDR5 is usually a non-starter when mixing kits. If you want 4 DIMMs, you must go for a 4-DIMM kit.
Yep. Double sided is to be expected as memory capacities increase. That would make it a poor indicator of rank, I guess.

Sites like www.techpowerup.com and www.guru3D.com and Hardware Unboxed Youtube channel (www.TechSpot.com for their written review versions) will usually list their Test System specs. See what you can ascertain from their AMD platforms...then cross-reference to the MSI compatibility list. Always go with the MSI compatibility options because MSI are unlikely to help you if you don't when your EXPO/XMP doesn't work. I think that's all the advice I can give when it comes to memory shopping. But it's definitely one of the PC components that you need to study carefully before you pull the trigger.

I scrapped the whole 4 modules idea. I cancelled this order. G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 48GB (2x24GB) 6400MT/s CL32-39-39-102 1.35V Desktop Computer Memory UDIMM - Matte Black (F5-6400J3239F24GX2-TZ5NR)
Instead I have found some of these. G.SKILL Trident Z5 Royal Neo Series (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 32GB (2X 16GB) 6000MT/s CL26-36-36-96 1.45V Desktop Computer Memory U-DIMM - Gold (F5-6000J2636H16GX2-TR5NG)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0F1X37WSK?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image I think they are a much better choice. I've also ordered the Case. CoolerMaster HAF 700 also from Amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0B2WZ14SP?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image

If Citay is chiming on on this thread still. He can be happy in the fact that I took the time to read the 2 Module Vs 4 Modules guide.

So I ordered that GSKILL ram and they keep asking me to verify the payment on Amazon even though I've already verified it.

There are import charges. I don't know why but I'm thinking of canceling it. I found some from overclockers with one letter difference. Will this be supported by

Amazon one (F5-6000J2636H16GX2-TR5NG)
Overclockers (F5-6000J2636H16GX2-TR5NG)

What's the difference ? I'm not sure the Overclocking is on the MSI QVL list.

EDIT: Reason Code
The payment didn't go through first properly was the issue with verification requests. It should be fine now. Hopefully I will get the RAM Saturday.

So I ended up cancelling the order for the memory at Amazon. It has the high voltage 1.45V. I managed to find some QVL 2X24GB 6000MHz Trident Z Royal Neo with CL28 timings and it runs at 1.35V. Got it though LDLC. AIO Cooler arrived today, and my case is due to arrive tomorrow. 😊😁 I'd appreciate you guys following my build thread here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/new-build-gaming-pc-x870e-godlike.412231/

Hey FlyingScot I created a new thread in the component forum, chassis etc.. called "CoolerMaster HAF 700 Best Positive Negative Cooling Setup". If you know anything about how to best Orient fans in the case, could you help me out there. Alternatively if Citay knows, maybe he could give me some advice aswell. All this advice I can pass on to the shop who builds it for me.

Kind of busy right now. But if I think of something, I'll be sure to add my 2 or 3 cents worth. I did previous take a look at your case via this review. I wasn't sure if you had seen it.

That's ok. I'm in no rush. I just read the review. I know I'm not doing watercooling but upto two AIO at some point in the future. Case is on MSI motherboard compatibility list.

But the case is future proofed for a second AIO GPU if Sapphire ever release a 7900 XTX Toxic, or a 9800 XT Toxic.

And it's worth it for the excellent air cooling given the low temperatures. Toms Hardware also has it at the top of the charts.

Dates of orders and arrival of components:

MSI MEG X870E GODLIKE - 11th May
Arctic Liquid Freezer III 420 - 13th May (Today)
CoolerMaster HAF 700 - 14th May Due
Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 XTX Vapour-X 24G graphics card - Ordered today
G.SKILL Trident Z5 Royal Neo 48GB - waiting for shipping
