Recently I bought for my son the MSI Crosshair 16 HX D14VGKG

Unfortunately I have two issues with it and I don't know if it is a problem or if I can fix one of them.
Even though I don't have experience with gaming laptops, it looks like (for me at least) that the fans are very loud.
But this is not the only problem.
The other one who makes me more anxious is that a lot of times (more and more often) when I shutdown the laptop with the known way through the on/off icon next to my son's name after clicking the windows logo, it doesn't power off!
The laptop goes to a strange mode with full fans and the power button remain in a white light. I've let it for hours and nothing happened. The only way is to hold for more then ~20 maybe 25 seconds the power button.

I am confused!

Is this something I can manage to solve by myself?
I've tried to close all the apps and programs even though them from the small arrow next to the time/date (button right).

Thank you in advance for every help.

Greetings from Greece.

Does the issue occur after any update? e.g. Windows update, upgrading SSD/RAM, updating BIOS, or any settings have been changed before that.
Try to do EC reset first. Shutdown the laptop and unplug the AC > long press the power button for over 25 seconds > plug in the AC and power on the laptop
If you haven't update BIOS yet, try to update it to the latest version E15P2IMS.110 as well.

You can also check the integrity of Windows and if you have defective sectors on your SSD.
In CMD (Run as admin) type sfc /scannow then afterwards type chkdsk /r

You can also use Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool to verify your RAM.

Update!

Thank you for your replies!

I figured out that this happens mainly after playing FORTNITE.
I also figured out that if I do a restart instead of a shutdown. It makes the restart normally and after the restart I do the shut down and it is working properly.

For that, I didn't so far the suggested cmd command from drek4 and the suggested EC reset from Edric.
I didn't it because I have a brand new gamming laptop, but I hope that the additional information ( that the issue happened mainly after playing Fortnite ) will help to find a solution.

I will be glad for every tip or suggestion.

Well if you think that we don't have valuable solutions for your problem, then why come here and ask for our help?

If you know what's best for your laptop, then just do it and let us know later!

Have a nice day!

Hello drek4,
I don't know how do you came to this conclusion. I never said that I think that you don't have valuable solutions. I just said that I didn't try your suggestions yet and I updated the information with my observations. Οn the contrary, I thanked you for your suggestions.

However, I guess even if ask for help I don't have to follow all the suggestions I get.
In addition, my assessment is that my new observation changes the possibility of where this malfunction is caused a bit. Consequently the possible solution to the problem.
Either way, thank you again for your suggestion for a solution to my problem.

When I face an issue with any of my laptops, if I do not know for sure what the issue might be, I work by process of elimination,
that is how I end up solving the problem, that is also the way I help others, so since you will not or cannot follow my suggestions,
then I can not assist you, so no offense, but if I just do wild guesses, I just waste your time and my time and that is a dealbreaker for me!

Have a nice day!
