I would like to set up Windows 64bit as a second OS. I am currently running XP pro.

when i installed winxp64 with winxp32 already installed ( seperate partitions or better still seperate hdd's ) .. the install automatically set up a boot menu which when u start the pc gives u choice of two windows xp's .. one is the 32bit obe is the 64bit .. it just doesnt label them as such .. u boot the one u wish .. or i believe default is the 64bit xp

I have tried to install XP64 on the same drive-letter as the XP32, it will be messy.....
Better install it on a different drive-letter, then there are no problems and you get a boot screen to pick what OS you want to start.

So I have a 200gig backup drive that is the slave used for data backup etc.. How do I load it on that and still use it for backup's. I would think is it had an OS on it then I could not ues it for my backup's?

Read the manual

Use the M/B functions that you have

eg

just disable the first drive in the bios , then install the second OS

re enable the first drive in the bios

Then for a simple dual boot press F11 at boot time select the drive to boot from

you will find that the drive letters are reversed when you boot from the second drive with the second OS on its C drive

thats how I do it with XP 32 bit on the first and XP 64 bit on the second

this way its easy to get rid of the test OS without messing about with a boot loader

its best to install a second OS on a seperate partioin of an existing drive .. so if ur gonna use ur backup drive .. create a new partition on it for winxp64 only .. that partition will still be able to access ur data partition as will xp32

thats the easiest way ..

You can edit the wording on the boot screen- Right click My Computer, Properties, Advanced, the settings above error reporting, at top set time for menu to display, click edit, alter text, click on file, then save as, then save. Thats it
