I would like to know how is the Prestige 14 A10SC-020 (core i5 + GTX 1650) for gaming? What about throttling?

If you're talking about playing 3A games for a long period of time, I won't recommand them as of now.

The specs looks good on paper, and from my test run of MHW, it was good indeed, but only for about less than 10 minutes. After that the framerate suddenly dropped from 60 to 15 and stayed at 15 afterwards.
Afterburner suggested that the GPU is constantly running at its base speed, even after its temparature dropped down to 65?. The FPS just wouldn't go up again.

I suspect this being a software issue though, and have filed a ticket. Hope they'd take a look >.<

Yeah, it seems some undervolt is necessary to avoid throttling

status update FYI:
MSI sent an EC update that fixed the FPS stuttering issue for me. With the new EC my prestige 14 managed to run MHW and SEKIRO stably at 60FPS 1080p (low settings of course).
Now I can safely recomment this laptop for less heavy gaming senarios.

Hi,

I have a Prestige 14 A10SC-028NE, since four days ago, and want to agree with previous poster that there seems to be a GPU/cooling problem, probably software.

I have had throttling when playing old games on high settings. CPU temp is ok, around 70C, but my FPS drops from 100 down to 20.
Only way to get FPS back up is to AFK and allow the GPU to cool, and then it repeats. At the same time, the "Creator center" shows only one fan working. Fan nr.2 is always at 0 RPM.

(a side question: does this model have one or two fans??).

I shall try the EC firmware upgrade, this was also suggested by the online support. Will post back with results.

Hi,

Can you please tell specifically what version of the EC Firmware resolved your issue?
