How to record audio with video using composite on tv@nywhere...plus

Just got this card already installed in 2nd hand Dell Dimension E520 running Vista. Everything's ok except one problem. I can't seem to record audio along with the video when using composite input.

I have the stereo input coming into my line-in on sound card and I can hear the audio coming out the speakers when I set "input" in sound mixer. I've told tv@nywhere to use the Line-In off the sound card but no sound recorded? I can record the sound using audio recording software. I'm unsure what to try next.

That said, I have a sense it's got something to do with the 4-1 cable which seems to have no documentation about it's usage. I've got a hunch the stereo audio input is supposed to go into two of the rca connectors and the stereo mini jack then goes into the sound cards input. Haven't tried that yet solely because don't have proper adapter. Scanning forum found a link to a dead page suggested it might have info on cable usage but ...

Does it record TV audio and video OK or haven't you tried that yet?

To record audio from TV@+ you must connect the mini plug from TV@+ to line in on sound card and audio/video in to TV@+ by the red/white/yellow RCA plugs or the S-video plug.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you can record separate audio along with video, I think the audio has go through TV@+ along with the video first.

What is the source of the A/V you are recording?

Ok, as I suspected then. Correct me if I'm wrong and the manual seems to omit this but

You connect the mini-stereo plug on the 4 in 1 cable to the line in on the sound card.
You connect you audio stereo input to the red and white rca jacks on the 4 in 1 cable.
You connect either composite or s-video to the corresponding plug on the 4 in 1 cable.

That routes the audio thru the tv@nywhere so it can be recorded. 've instead got it directly connected to line-in on sound card hence why can hear and record audio using other software. Don't you think just maybe they might tell you that in the manual. It's only I have had other capture cards led me to the above assumption.

Means I need a cable to convert the present mini-stereo male plug end into two rca males. Not a problem just pain in behind, e.g. snip, snip, splice, splice

Lot like the Hauppage in old system.

Recording a tv channel does record audio btw.

Using it mostly for converting 8mm tape, vcr stuff and the very odd DVD I can't seem to rip, e.g. if I can watch/hear it I can get a copy

Can you connect your source through S-Video? iIf you can then do that with TV@+ mini plug to line in of sound card and you should be good to go without fooling with any other connections.

If you use S-Video then you don't need Yel. composite or the Wht/Rd sound RCA connected. You use yellow composite + w/r RCA or S-Video, not both. Either way mini audio plug from TV@+ goes to line in of sound card.
