you would need a nvme usb enclosure or Adapter and use the Manufacturers Cloning Software using it as the Destination of the clone

then you can remove the old one and use the new cloned Drive in your Machine.

that way you can Put your old drive in the Enclosure to use as Fast External Storage.

(when you pick a Drive go to the Manufacturers Website who makes your new Drive and find your Drive you have Bought and in its support Section will be the Cloning Software you need and Download it)

to get a Enclosure there sold by most online Stores like Amazon and alot of PC shops sell them too but from Amazon is usually the best way to go just get one with good Ratings.

1: put new drive in the NVME to USB Enclosure
2: connect it to the PC you want to Clone the OS Drive on it
3: Run the Manufacturer of your New SSD's cloning Software
4: once its cloned it to the External Drive Shut the PC down
5: open the PC and Remove the NVME SSD in it
6: Place the Newly Cloned Version on the New drive into the PC and run a Quick test that it boots fine to your OS
7: A:if it boots fine Shut it back down and close it back up B: if it does not put the old Drive back in and Try to clone it again

why i keep mentioning an Enclosure is it can then be used once your done to House your Old NVME Drive (512GB in your Case) to use as high speed external Storage (around 500+MB/Second Read and Write) as you can then connect it to your PC once your New Drive is in your Laptop and Run a Quick Format on your Old Drive and then you will have a External Drive that can Saturate one of your USB posts bandwidth to use as a Super Fast External Drive as enclosures tend to only be a few $ more then a Adapter (Adapter is just a M.2 Slot on a PCB with a USB to PCI-E Chip on it and a Enclosure is that but also with a Case also so your not touching it)
