You need to reformat the drive and use GPT mode. This is not a hardware issue but a system issue. You simply need to expand the storage using either disk management or software like Acronis. Or you can always separate them into two partitions like one 2TB and one 1TB.

It?s also a win7 limitation, UEFI GPT supports much higher than 2T
As the MBR only locates a HD for a maximum range of 2T, the maximum partition and the starting position of last partition should be less than 2T.
For example, a 4T HD (3.7 available usually), you can divide it as
1.9 + 1.8T or 1T+0.8T+1.9T.
It is NG to do 1.3 + 1.2 + 1.2 , because the position of last part begins from
2.5 T.
