I recently bought an MSI PRO DP180 computer tower and am trying to feed the audio being streamed from a website delivering music or audio from a radio station to my stereo receiver with only HDMI ports. I have contacted MSI tech service numerous times and, after receiving several different responses, have finally concluded that my problem is out of their realm of expertise. On the back of my computer there are 1 HDMI port beside 3 Display ports from the Graphics Board. Above them are 5 USB ports, 2 Data ports and an HDMI port that doesn't seem to be connected to anything. There are also 2 SUB ports on the front.I am using Windows 11 and I was using Fox Fire for the browser.
I have purchased a Display-to-HDMI cord to go to the Monitor to free up the HDMI port so I could use it to feed into my stereo receiver like one MSI tech suggested would work. It doesn't. The instant I plug the HDMI cord coming from the receiver the screen goes blank and then reopens, but the cursor is gone and the mouse is blocked out so I have no control over anything at that point. I connected a USB-to-HDMI adapter and then went to Settings, System, Sound where my desktop speakers were displayed and tried to Add a Device. The computer then tried to locate the other "device" and continued to search, with the computer locked up during the process that never ended. BUT, while it was searching with the receiver turned on and set to the proper channel, the music came on and the volume could be controlled! Great! But the computer remained locked up while it searched endlessly (over an hour) for my device that was connected to a website streaming the radio station.
I have been chasing this ghost for over 2 months and will greatly appreciate the help I need to perform this one task, the same task my 10-year-old computer has done faithfully for several years.
