Hi,

I play gta 5m and stream online so I need more ram as it slowing down the game way too much and is locking the computer down :(

Here is my specs.

Device name MSI
Processor AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX with Radeon Graphics (2.50 GHz)
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.2 GB usable)
Device ID 0158D9AA-D082-4115-B39F-D66DF64FB810
Product ID 00325-80000-00000-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

Any help would be great.

16GB of RAM is more than enough.
However, since RAM prices are high these days,
I recommend buying more later.
If you experience lag, check your CPU temperature.
Also, check to see if it’s a hardware issue.
However, just because the game is lagging,
there’s no need to add more RAM.
Also, if you’ve overclocked your RAM,
try resetting it to the default settings.

What do the fans sound like? How old is the laptop? Do the fans sound the same as when you first got the laptop? I have similar issues with Marvel Rivals and I am thinking of getting more RAM eventually as well.

Laptops typically last between 10 and 15 years.
If you’re not too demanding, a desktop is a better choice.
Since you can simply replace the parts on a desktop,
I think a desktop PC is the better option.
Laptops are nice, of course,
but desktop PCs offer better performance.

I’d honestly just upgrade to 32GB RAM minimum - 16GB is pretty tight for GTA + FiveM + streaming at the same time, especially on a 7945HX.
From my experience, that kind of “locking up” is usually RAM hitting 90–100% and Windows starting to swap to disk, which kills performance.
