I recently upgraded my OEM BIOS to 3.8. Ever since then my system would not wake from S3 sleep. It bugged me beccause with 2 teenagers in the house the system comes in and out of S3 sleep a lot. Well . . ... it took a couple of weeks of trying hundreds of different settings, but I finally figured out why. With "over speed" protection enabled in the BIOS the system will not wake from S3 sleep. With it disabled S3 sleep works as designed. I have no idea why this is the case, but I can enable/disable over speed protection with the same effect on S3 sleep every time. Just a heads up here for other I7 X58 Platinum SLI users with similar hardware.
