Hi, i have a MSI MPG X870E Carbon WIFI too and the default BIOS was an 1A10. So i have Updated to the latest BIOS Version 7E49v1A21 and some Problems this BIOS Version. For example when the System starts it is very slow and when i move the Mouse cursor it is stuttering. Opening programs takes a long time, even opening the task manager takes about 2 minutes. The issue was not fixed after a new installation. So i downgrade the BIOS from 7E49v1A21 to 7E49v1A1A and the Problems was gone but now the Bluetooth is not detected in the OS after some changes in the BIOS. So when i load the default setting the Bluetooth ist detected in the OS. I think that the current BIOS versions are quite buggy, which I think is a very bad! Especially when you consider that the motherboard costs over €450.

Exact same stuttering problem as you even with BIOS A22 but not every boot. I would say 1 time out of 4 and almost every cold boot in the morning. I will test the 1A1A.

Hi @Bedouille69,
I have tested the 7E49v1A1G and the 7E49v1A21 so far and with both BIOS versions I have the stuttering start phenomenon. I'm currently back on 7E49v1A1A and it works. And yes it happens with at least 1 reboot out of 4 and almost always with a cold boot. Furthermore, displaying the BIOS via DP port is almost 100% not possible. It has to happen via HDMI.

Hiiii, I can confirm that 1A1A is the last good BIOS (I was in 1A17 at the beginning). For DP, I can't tell because I'm plugged to a Denon amp with HDMI.

It's going to sound crazy, but if you're running the latest (10.73) network card driver, downgrade it to the previous version (10.72) or let windows install the default drivers.
Additionally, make sure you reset the BIOS to the optimal defaults after upgrading it, there seems to be a lot of settings left in the memory somehow, or bad initial flash settings.

It's not the network driver for my case. I even tested with default Windows driver.
With A21, I boot and all the system stutters even on Desktop +- 1 boot out of 4 and always cold ones in the morning. It's 1 boot out of 6-7 with A23 --> I reboot and it's OK.
No issue with 1A1A.

World of Warcraft used to do this to me when I played it, something like a decade ago. Warm reboot fixed it every time, or disabling g-sync. Eventually fixed with an Nvidia driver update.
If everything's working on A1A for you though, I'd definitely stick there until the next BIOS update.

I have the same mouse stuttering with super slow & laggy desktop problems. It is usually from a cold boot and occurs in roughly 1 in 2 boots for me. To get around it - when cold booting - I spam the del key to enter the BIOS and then exit without saving changes. It seems to load windows ok if I do that.

I use BIOS 1A1A, it's easier :D

Ugh - yeah but I don't feel like re-entering all my BIOS settings again- about 40 or so changes. On the bright side, this info might help the devs figure out what's wrong. it seems like some sort of timing issue from cold that is fixed by a slight delay to the POST.

The stuttering high DPC can be cleared by putting PC to sleep and wake it up again. No need to reboot. Entering and exiting sleep can also bring on the stutter. Its weird.
MSI X870 Tomahawk. A1F - A24. Will try 1A1A

This topic is about the Carbon and not the Tomahawk but maybe the 1A1A works too.

I've cold booted a few times now using the latest BIOS 1A27 and so far no stuttering or lag issues. Too soon to say it's fixed but I'm hopeful!

1A27 didn't fix for me. Therefore I am rollig it back 1A1A. I am also considering RMA this board.

Updated
I gave 1A27 2nd try. Suprisingly, I found out disabling overclocking on the infinity fabric ( I was overclocking it to 2200 Mhz ) and memory overclocking seems to fix the stuttering issue for me. So far, it has been 1 day without any stuttering in cold boot.

I also installed the latest X870E chipset drivers directly from AMD. I noticed windows device manager was showing an unrecognised device after the BIOS update but the driver install fixed that.
