Hi,
Long time listener, first time caller.
I currently have software RAID 1 arrays and I'm considering converting to the Intel matrix for RAID 1 support for both arrays.
I set the sata mode to AHCI RAID in bios prior to installing the OS but didn't install the Intel Matrix drivers initially.
Couple questions
In the Intel Matrix readme, Windows Server 2008 r2 is not listed as a supported OS, is that just a legacy oversight or is it un-supported?
Is there any real performance or stability to gain by switching to hardware RAID?
Am I going to fry my OS if I try to add the drivers/switch the RAID after the OS is installed?
Would the procedure be to break the SW RAID, then install the Matrix drivers, boot up, shut down, re-establish the RAID w/ crtl+I on re-boot?
thank you very much in advance and I applogize if this has been covered in another thread, I couldn't find it.
