I just built my first computer and am having difficulty getting it into the bios.

Here are my specs:

MSI x58 Eclipse
920 core i7
Corsair 3x2gb
Gigabyte 9800GTX+

When I turn my computer on it will load a screen that says DR. MOS across it in big letters. Below it will ask you to press "tab" to POST or "DEL" to enter BIOS Setup.
I tried going into the bios setup by pressing the DEL button but it will not. It will give me a screen with the processor/ram info and then nothing else happens.

It was working fine last night, until I tried running the vista installation disk. I was installing the vista on my WD TB (After formatting the drive) and it restarted (which was expected) but never reloaded after that. I could not access the bios after that either.

Any suggestions? Let me know if you need any more info.

I would say try by pushing the clear cmos button on the back of your mobo( where you put your usb and sound and...dvi, there is a little grey button). Than start the pc again , let the post screen pass and wait for the blibs
And wait until you hear all the blibs and push Del button after the last biiiiiib.
it sound stupid but it goes like this , bib, bib, bib, biiiiiiiib,Del button

Check if you boot from the correct HDD in the bios( advanced bios settings = boot setup), Set your dvd with vista as first boot and your HDD as second one)

I'm not getting any bib's.

I've already tried clearing the cmos several times.

The only thing that is happening is the DR. MOS screen with the option to press delete to enter the bios and then it hangs after confirming the ram. For now I just have one stick of ram in A0.

I cannot access the bios, therefore I an not set my dvd with vista as first boot.

I hope your clearing CMOS in a power off state. Remove the PSU power cord, & then press CMOS button. Re-connect power cord & power up. Only 1 mem. stick in slot #2 (AO) for initial start & set up is correct. Keep us posted on your progress.

I'm doing all you've mentioned. Still nothing.

What I don't understand is why it was working just fine before and then all of a sudden it did not.

Something has gone wrong maybe with a system component. Have you tried with one of the other mem. sticks in the AO slot? Do you have another HDD you can try. Try barebones, 1 HDD, 1 Opt. Drive, etc..

If you use 3 memory modules put them in the black slots, i believe your ram is hanging , is it vista with service pack 1 included on the install CD.
I had the same problem with an other mobo , install vista with 4 memory modules and it crashed after first boot up , removed 2 modules , installed vista again than servicepack 1 and then the 2 other modules.
So if i was you , remove 1 memory module , leave 2 on the mobo , install vista and servicepack 1 and put than the other module.
It was a vista issue , the servicepack fix that.

Alright guys, thank you all for your help.

I went ahead and just rebuilt the computer from the start and it just worked. I'm not sure what the issue was, but I sure am happy I've got it up and running now!!

Thanks again!
