I'm having issues trying to burn both DVD's and CD's. I've tried various burning programs (ImgBurn, PowerDVD, etc.) as well as different sorts of blank media, ranging from cheap to rather pricey, as well as different iso files. The drive is an Optiarc DVD RW AD-7560S.The drive did not work when I was using Vista 32, nor after I reformatted to XP 64. However, it can read media fairly well.

I have already checked Optiarc's site as well as MSI's driver page to try and find firmware but with no avail. I would try and replace the cable inside the computer but the whole warranty thing forbids me. I've already uninstalled/reinstalled everything. I'm hoping the drive isn't bad because I don't wanna send it in... this laptop is my life (pathetically enough).

I've tried essentially everything I can think of without much luck. Could anyone help?

Whoops, my bad.

I'll use ImgBurn as an example... when I try burning, I get one of two errors (sometimes both). The first is "Logical Unit Communication CRC Error", the other is "Invalid Address for Write". It attempts many times, but eventually gives up. It'll do enough to the DVD/CD where it is no longer blank and usable for burning... but nothing is on it. Same essential thing with the other burning softwares that I've tried.

Sounds like the drive is bad then, especially if you've tried different media and different burning programs.
