Have a MSI PRO B760M-P MB and want to install an Intel 82599 10Gb SPF+ card. This card has a PCIe v2.0x8 interface. Slot PCIe-M1 is only establishing 1 lane to the card and it limits the line speed to ~3.25Gb. I have tried messing with the PCIe settings in the BIOS and nothing will let it come up with more than 1 lane. The same thing happened with a MSI Z690 MB I have but I was able to get around it by installing in a different slot...I don't have this option with the B760M board. Is there a secret to getting this thing to come up with all 8 lanes???

The first slot gets its PCIe lanes directly from the CPU, as opposed to all other slots on 600/700-series boards which get it from the chipset. All they ever care about for the CPU-supplied first slot is running GPUs, pretty much. So there is no telling which kind of weird problems you get with such a card in the first slot. I would open a ticket with MSI.

Thanks....I was wondering about the CPU vs Chipset lanes. I currently have a ACQ113 based 10Gb-T card in the slot running at v3 just fine...so not sure why it won't run at v2 correctly.

The first PCI slot is x16, so is it possible that what is limiting your speed is not the PCI interface but the speed of what is coming into the card during your test?
Nope...you can go into Device Manager->Details->Property and look at the PCI current link speed and width. It's definitely running at v2x1. To test it I run iPerf between 2 local servers that both have 10Gb cards. With a properly working card I can get 9.6Gb+ all day long. I have only ever tried these cards in MSI boards...might have to put it in another computer for the fun of it.
