Hi all. I just bought a Katana GF76 laptop brand new 2 weeks ago. After firing it up, the computer needed a bunch of updates to bring things to the latest versions. One of them was a BIOS update... after doing it, the computer will no longer boot... The keyboard lights up and the fan comes on very low for about 15 - 20 seconds, then it all goes off... The screen does nothing during this... it remains powerlessly black with no activity at all. Although the BIOS update said it was successful, when it went to restart, this was/is the outcome.

Is there a key combination I can hold when turning on the power that will open a BIOS recovery screen, or trigger BIOS recovery? Other makes have this feature, and I'm hoping MSI does as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated... I'm totally bummed by this... Thanks.

Did you get the latest bios from your product page?
Do you remember which bios version did you upgrade from?
Try to hold the power button for 30 sec and reset EC.

I had the same issue. Bought a brand new MSI Katana GF76 12UC-001NL. Very first thing I did was replace the SSD (warranty void) and then flash the BIOS (even before installing Windows). The BIOS correctly recognized the new SSD. Then I updated the BIOS from version 109 to 10C. After updating, the laptop rebooted, but the MSI logo didn't show and after a few (about 10) seconds, the laptop shut down. The same happens every time I try to power on now. Placing back the original SSD doesn't help. Resetting the EC doesn't help. Bricked. Fantastic. Probably 1500 EUR just went down the drain. If that's the case, MSI will be completely out of the picture for me for the rest of my life.

Same here!!!
I have updated BIOS on my katana A15 and it bricked !! Nothing works
I have tried all the recommendations and still nothing
It’s only been 1 week since I got it.

I only updated the BIOS because I had an issue when the computer sleeps with the charger plugged In it seemed to not power on until I unplug the charger. Then the keyboard lights turn on

And also kept hearing a static noise in the left side of the speaker when anything was playing.

I was informed the updated would fix all those issues.

I’m so upset !!!

Thank you for the reply and advice
It turns out they r not really sure what could have caused it and wanted me to bring it in for a repair

To repair a new laptop and wait for it is a waste of time and shouldn’t have to be done in the first place, so I just returned it.

I had to much hope for this laptop, 1 problem after another right from the start plus after reading other comments I’m not the only one with the issue.

- Does anyone know a good laptop that’s able to handle 2-3 virtual machines used simultaneously?
This was good but some times gave me errors saying i need to enable virtualization in the bios then it starts to work again

Thank you
