I had my keyboard always lit in red steady color for almost the past 3 years before this happened. So go figure...
To my question if this is going to happen again, as I had reports of users with replacement keyboards to face again the same problem, the answer is: What we repair is not going to malfunction again never.

Have you tried re-installing windows yourself? Did you see it work? Cause I was willing to do that but scared it would be for nothing. I can then prevent the drivers from updating and never update SSE.
No I haven't tried it, I don't want to go through all that. Moreover people said they had the same problem again after sometime even after the reset, so I'm not gonna try that. Even after a complete replacement by msi the problem comes back so that wont do any good either so I've just given up at this point. It's obvious that its a software bug just based on the fact that it goes away after windows reinstallation.

Can someone please explain how these forums work? I mean I get what they're for but are there any MSI employees here that read and go through these or interact with us?

If you can find out which software causes the bug, please share it with us and report the problem to MSI directly.

I found a way to make the faulty keys look normal (only works with stable color mode). Using the steelseries software i manually offset the colors of faulty keys to match the normal ones, for example if the faulty keys are red in color and you set the keyboard color to purple, the faulty keys will look a bit reddish purple so i made the color of all the faulty keys more blueish so that the red offset adds up to the blue offset that I added and they look purple.

Hey all! Thought i would share the news. I found a work around!

I installed a program call USB deview, intended to shut down USB devices and lo and behold. it lists the RGB controller as SteelSeries KLC and Steel series ALC. Disabled both. reboot... No more RGB. And the keyboard still works...

so all the normal keyboard functions work? like changing modes and stuff like that? do all the colors appear normal? are the faulty keys fixed?

this happens to me today with my MSI GE75, but this you can see only in the night place.

I always turn off the backlight when there is enough light, and recently I stopped using something at all, but today I noticed that some keys began to blink faintly in red even when the backlight is off. they burn brighter, or feverishly blink a weak red or blue, but much less often in blue. it seems to me that this is a hardware problem associated with a voltage drop or short circuits in the electronic circuit of the LEDs on the board. I also had a couple of green diodes on a couple of keys burned out and this is also a problem associated with voltage drops and short circuits. i think i will live with it, because keyboard replacement don't fix it, because after some time this can be caused in new rgb lights.

Any resolution yet? I am also facing the same issue. I have gl659sdk laptop.
Earlier I had 3 random column always turned to red even if the keyboard backlight is disabled in SSE and brightness down to 0. Now few more keys are always lit.

Edit: Since my laptop was in warranty I gave it for servicing and they are replacing my keyboard. Let's see how long does it work.
i have very similar case but without right arrow key, and my's weakly random flickering

Ahh man this just happened to my MSI GP65...couple of months ago few green leds died and now this happened.
:((((
but one thing is cool...
performance and cooling. all games (i mean all) can run in max setings in 1080p 60+ FPS on my i7-8750H + RTX 2070(except some fps cap, and network lagging, and optimization)

DEAR MSI, ITS CLEAR THIS IS A SOFTWARE BUG ( BECAUSE ITS FIXABLE IF YOU REINSTALL WINDOWS) BUT NO ONE WANTS TO DO THAT. EVEN AFTER DOING THAT UPDATING THE DRIVERS WOULD BRING BACK THE SAME PROBLEM. PLEASE FIX THIS THROUGH A SOFTWARE UPDATE. I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU GUYS ARE IGNORING A SERIOUS , YET SIMPLE SOFTWARE BUG. PLEASE PLEASE FIX THIS
Are you sure clean windows install fix the problem?

It kinda funny if you think about it. it used stay green and after restart it turn into red and lower brightness compare to first one. Msi seriously detect the problem and deside to turn it red and low brightness, so we don't noisce it during daylight use. their eengineer team really good at cover thing up.
