Hi,

I have MSI Vector 16 HX A14VHG, my laptop is shutting down due to overheating after few minutes of gaming. I have it high elevated, always using Cooler Boost, I also changed Processor Power Managment to 99% and it's still happening. It happens even with cooler pad, I don't know what to do anymore. It is extremely frustrating, since I bought it for gaming obviously and it was pretty expensive... Any advices please?

First check and provide the CPU/GPU temperatures and fan speed right before the shutdown occurs. Also confirm whether both fans are spinning properly when Cooler Boost is enabled.
Which version of graphics driver are you currently using? Have you tried rolling it back to the previous versions?

1. check if the fan really spins under loads
2. check if the thermal module is firmly fixed within motherboard
3. try repaste or undervolting

try repasting the thermal paste and apply new thermal pads and also try undervolting if it was too heating after these thermal solutions

Thank you all for your replies. Fans aren't the problem, they work fine, both of them are spinning and I can feel their cooling from both sides. I think it is as Baloney and Vash said and it needs repaste. Tbh I'm kind of scared to do it myself, will prolly give it to some professional. First I will try to undervolt and see if it helps. Will come back with results, might help someone in the future.

Hi, I changed these in BIOS to undervolt CPU.
Advanced > Power & Performance > CPU - Power Management Control > Config TDP Configurations

Custom Settings Nominal
ConfigTDP Nominal
Power Limit 1 65000 (65W)
Power Limit 2 75000 (75W)
Power Limit 1 Time Window 40

They were both capped at 220W by default.

Values change depending on your CPU

This is for i5 & i7 12th Gen, make sure your PL1/PL2 is 58/68W if you game, if not 50/60W.
This is for i5, i7 13th & 14th Gen, AC Loadline 110, make sure your PL1/PL2 is 65/72W if you game, if not 55/65W.
This is for i9 12th, 13th & 14th Gen, AC Loadline 110, make sure your PL1/PL2 is 65/75W if you game, if not 55/65W.

Also very important, make sure to thouroughly clean off dust from inside your laptop. I was thiking that it won't be that bad, since I don't have the laptop for a long time, but there was decent layer of dust. After I did these, I can play again without issues.
