Great that the microcode update is addressed but the vague description of the CPU voltage recommendation has me concerned.
  • - AGESA PI-1.2.0.3c released.
  • - Security update for the Ryzen 9000 series CPU.
  • - It's recommended to adjust the CPU Core Voltage with AMD Overclocking mode.
What exactly does this mean and why is it recommended?

For those who aren't Overclocking or Undervolting the CPU and not using PBO, only enable the EXPO profile so the RAM works at rated speed and leave everything else on Auto/BIOS Defaults.
You can disable the iGPU if you don't use it so its not needlessly reserving some RAM space for itself.

I should have said I understand what it is meant to do, but I still don't know why this is recommended. For that matter, why can I set this stuff in different places? Seems like an potential way to shoot yourself in the foot.

Doesn't make sense, does this mean PBO should be disabled?
For me I will not install this update, at least not after 2~3 months later.

AMD CPU Microcode Signature Verification Vulnerability

They call it Medium severity, but since System Management Mode (SMM) can be compromised, i call it Critical.

Since the bug is expected to be resolved later, it's better to hold until the dust settle down. This update is for those who are super concern about the microcode vulnerability, which requires admin privilege in the first place to exploit. This rarely happens for single home user.

is Ryzen 7000 affected by the security hole?

I'll probably update to this bios once it goes final, as i typically wait a week or two before i install it personally on my systems

Only thing i do have enabled in PBO area is Set Thermal Limit to 85C
((On air cooling, and wasn't comfortable going over 90C at times, so i set that, and now it rarely if ever goes over)

Ryzen 7 7700X
MSI B650 VC Wifi Rev 1.0

Tower Cooler with RGB Fan

2 160MM intakes
and 1 140MM Exhaust

**Must next time i do dust clean out make sure these 160mm Fans properly connected to Lian Li Lancool 216 Included ARGB & Fan hub so i can control the 160MM ones in UEFI Bios as well. Right now i can't for some reason, though i'm not an expert by any means
