Latest Dragon Center can't control Crucial Ballistix RGB memory

Here are the SMBus adresses on my system.
Some of the unknown adresses should be the RGB of the RAM:

Maybe the SMBus Adresses are helpfull for the RGB control with 4 Sticks (BL8G36C16U4BL.M8FE1) and a KFA2 RTX 2070 1 click OC installed and ASUS Armoury Crate is adressing them:

Same problem here, with the same memories. I ask every time a dragon center update comes out to msi support, but they only know to tell me that the current update does not solve that problem. desperate to have a color fair there!

Has anyone figured out a solution to get Mystic Light to work with Ballistix RGB yet? I'm having this same problem - reached out to both MSI and Crucial customer support but no response yet.

I contacted the MSI Support a few days ago and told them that Crucial changed the RGB Controller/Function of the RAM and uses another adress.
The new sticks use as standard the adress 0x27h, which wasnt used before.
And the adress is the same for all sticks.

Hopefully they will fix it soon, because i was told they have contacted crucial about this.

I have MSI Mag B550M Mortar Wi-Fi and I've also encountered this issue. Dragon Center Mystic Light is able to detect the ram but for some reason can't control the RGB God I also hope they fix it. Armoury Crate works but I don't like it coz if I select dynamic lights, the color change freezes at some point and if I put the PC to sleep, the RGB won't shut off with the others and also dynamic lights freezes on sleep. Static lights work fine. Also, I have iCue installed as well for my corsair fans and pump head rgb which works fine for both but obviously can't control the crucial rgb ram and if I have both Armoury crate and iCue installed, both software somehow end up colliding over ram rgb control and I keep getting a pop-up error message from Armoury Crate about being unable to access the ram. I hope they fix Dragon Center Mystic Light control for this coz I really don't like using Armoury Crate.

Don't hold your breath. I contacted both MSI support and Crucial support, and they both acted like they've never heard of this issue before. I just got the runaround to uninstall/reinstall Dragon Center, update drivers, etc. And none of that worked of course. I ended up returning my ram sticks because they were still within the return window. I'll just snag some Trident Z ram and hope it doesn't have the same issue

Thats really sad to hear.
Unfortunatly, i looked a bit deeper and saw, that the armoury crate from asus does set the rgb colors right, but there are also some programming errors, which cause CRC errors in the SPD data during reads, for example in the serial number block of the ram.
Enough is enough, Crucial and MSI blamed themself enough with this mysticlight compatible advertisement.
I know they have enough trouble with other faults in bioses, with the agesa versions and so on, but c´mon a half year after launch is this buggy state just unstatisfying for every customer in terms of proper functionality and support around it.
It cant be that hard to just read a few spec sheets, program for example a standard program for a NXP RGB Controller, set for crucial RAM the acknowledge address to 27 and use this written standard program for example a NXP PCA9955B or a PCA9685, or what else it is on these sticks. And if you want, just add the temperature reading also into the software.

Iam going to sell the crucial RGB RAM and never come back, cheers

Same issue here on an MSI MEG X570 Unify with BIOS 7C35vA8. I also contacted MSI's and Crucial's support about this. Crucial suggested to may be try the currently available Beta BIOS, but I am assuming that that's just trial and error on the side of Crucial's technical support contact.

Don't think returning and switching to a different brand is a good idea. I did some research before I decided to actually buy the sticks and learned that the crucial ram sticks were probably one of the few ram sticks that could run higher clock speeds and remain stable. Most of the other ram sticks that have support for higher clock speeds like 3600mhz are not quite stable and sometimes end up forcing you to revert to the default speed. Anyway, that's just based on other people's opinions and not actual experience so I could be wrong as well.

I've got an open ticket with both MSI and Crucial for a very similar problem. In Feb 2020 I bought 2 x RGB Crucial Ballistix 8GB sticks and these work fine. A few weeks ago I decided to buy another pair of EXACTLY the same part number. The memory is fine, EXCEPT that it causes RGB problems with Mystic Light. To cut a long story short, temporarily using Crucial MOD, I was able to determine that my FEB2020 sticks use Crucials LED Gen1, and the new ones use LED Gen2. Even using the Gen2 sticks by themselves is a problem. Its definitely the Gen2 thing to blame as far as I can see. I keep chasing MSI and they state they are waiting to hear from the memory manufacturer.

I found this comment on a reddit post about this exact same issue that we are all experiencing. I tried it myself by downloading the latest beta for GSkills Trident Z Lighting Control. I found that it is finally able to turn off all 4 of my Ballistix RGB ram sticks, where previously Mystic Light was only able to turn off 2, leaving the other 2 in its default rainbow state. It has a UI like OpenRBG, almost 0 performance impact, and no bloatware like Armory Crate. You have no idea how much this has eased my mind by being able to turn off the stupid rainbow animation on half of my sticks.

Black electrical tape would have saved you a lot of problems or go the way I did Zero RGB Parts and that is not as easy as one would think to manage. That RGB rubbish is everywhere now days

I never said I hated my RGB. In fact I love it when I can actually use it the way I want to. I mine at night, so turning it off helps me sleep in the dark.

Updated bios to 7C84v16 (Non-beta) Release Date 2021-05-31 and now:

1. Crucial Ballistix RGB control DOES NOT work at all now for me. Dragon Center continues to list Ballistix Tracer as the LED. Previously, 2 of 4 sticks world function correctly. Asus Armoury Crate and G.Skill Trident Z Lighting Control can control 2 (or 3) of 4 sticks. A power down reboot results sometimes in a change of behavior changes from boot to boot. DRAM 3 and DRAM 4 are the two ram slots that are uncontrollable. When applying settings in G.Skill Trident Z Lighting Control it can sometimes change the colors of DRAM 3 and DRAM 4 when I immediately hit apply settings, but it will be the wrong color...

It has been 6 months, yet I keep trying...

I decided to try the GSkills Trident Z Lighting as you suggested and so far so very good. Seems like a very good alternative to Armoury crate. No problems with dynamic lighting freezing at any point and when I put my PC to sleep, the rgb turns off with the rest.

Hi,

I just purchase a B550 Gaming Edge and some Crucial Ballistix RGB memory. After downloading and installing the latest Dragon Center, the Mystic Light portion of DC can see the memory, but can't control the effects. I have other RGB fans that are working. Only the RGB on the memory sticks can not be controlled.

Is this a known issue with the latest DC?
Any way to download an older version?
