Hi, So I noticed my idle temps increased and only thing that was updated was MSI Center I had it on auto update

I only use MSI Center for mystic light to control RGB on Fans, RAM, GPU , Keyboard and Mouse so pretty much all systems RGB in one place and like how low resources it used

typically my system would idle 33-37c after last update of MSI_Center_1.0.59.0 noticed idle temps 40-47c just to confirm I uninstalled MSI center and it went back to 33-37c and once reinstalled back to 40-47c

So its MSI Center causing it , once I set the RGB in mystic light and set MSI Center not to start on bootup and it keeps the RGB setting what I find strange in task manager I dont see any increased CPU usage yet the temps are higher ??

is it possible to get the previous version of MSI Center which didnt have this issue I really should have saved it and also turned off auto update :(

Build
5900x (Z73 360mm AIO)
MSI x570 unify
32gb trident rgb 3600
3080FE
Windows 11

Thanks

What does taskmaster show under processes and details when it's installed and running? Probably Win11 growing pains, such a useless update that's caused so many problems.

MSI Center is not very good anyway for the following reasons:

Different BIOS settings - better done in the BIOS, including the fan curves.
Overclocking - mostly useless with the latest CPUs, because they run at 99% of their capacity already due to several turbo boost methods. OC on top just increases power consumption & heat.
RGB LED control - i turned RGB off, i don't have a case with a window. But that would be pretty much the only reasonable use case.
LAN traffic manager - useless and eats CPU time, just throttle downloads in the download software if necessary.
HW monitoring - HWinfo64 or AIDA64 are way better.

But lastly, MSI Center like to mess with your configuration sometimes, activating some useless boost settings, which can change the power plan (it should always be on "Balanced").

See here for various threads about it:

Make sure to disable "USB boost" and "storage boost" if you have them, and check that the power plan is on Balanced.

its just a losing battle trying to get the system to run as lean as possible once you think you have update ruins it all, didnt have this issue on previous version of MSI center

thats the only processes MSI seems to use for RGB and use no CPU usage and get 10c increase , its 100% MSI center as soon I uninstall it temps drop I could use L connect to set RGB on fans as I use Lian Li fans and for ram could use Gskills own software and hope its light weight only feature I would miss is that with mystic light you can get the RGB to turn off when monitor is sleep

I do everything in the bios but do use fan control software to set fan curves for case fans as the bios you cannot set according to GPU temps and I prefer to set case fans according to GPU and have the 3 fans on RAD for CPU curve set, FAN control is great and light

I have the EVO 011 case and its on the desk and I also built it for aesthetics so like to control RGB to whatever
I dont use any of MSI center features I only install Mystic light to pretty much control and set all of systems RGB in one place and previous version was fine and the thing is in task manager CPU usage I dont see any extra CPU usage with and without it installed yet it shoots up the temps by 10c

Can you run HWinfo64 and show "Sensors" with all sensors expanded (click on the little <--> arrows on the bottom)? Expand the columns of the sensors a bit so everything can be read, and take two screenshots, once with MSI Center installed and once without it. Let it run for a bit while in idle, so the "minimum" baselines for the values are established. This will show the CPU power draw, the voltages, the energy saving states the CPU is in, anything that's necessary to see what's different.

If you want, you can also produce full CPU load with Cinebench R23. After the CPU temperatures have stabilized at the highest level (let it run for 10 mins), take another screenshot.

left at idle for 10mins for each test , both exact same setup regarding FAN speedx CPU FANS and background tasks , closed the same apps i.e discord etc I dont see any extra CPU usage in task manager with MSI center installed and without so no idea where its getting the extra temps from the MSI Center version before this didnt have this issue just noticed with latest update

you can see the min temp thats where it was idle

MSI Center installed with only Mystic light installed I also set MSI center not to startup in windows as it still keeps the RGB setting so no need to have it start once RGB is set

MSI Center uninstalled

Why did you cut the sensors off there, that's only where it begins to get interesting at the bottom with the voltages and power draw. We already know the temps are higher, we need to find the reason.

Can you repeat with all sensors shown, sort of like this: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/bios-settings.377979/#lg=attachment162817&slide=0

had no idea you needed that :) ,will do it later or likely tomorrow

after uninstalling it keeps the RGB setting for Fans shame it doesnt for the RAM guess whenever I want to change the RGB install MSI center set RGB and uninstall it :ROFLMAO:

Thanks

I'm not support, i'm just an experienced user. MSI official support doesn't read here. Hopefully i can help you find out what happens, and when it turns out to be some kind of bug in MSI Center, you can officially report it later. But first we need to see what happens.

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say it's Windows11. Useless update that ONLY provided UI updates and compatibility issues. I'm not touching it for another two years, minimum. I spend a lot of time with just helping people online with tech support and I can't tell you how many random issues it's caused.

previous version of MSI Center was also on windows 11 and had no issues , anyway uninstalled MSI Center and using L connect to set RGB on Lian Li fans and idling 33-34c now :-) I was gonna get MSI AIO with the LCD so would had no choice but to use MSI Center glad I didnt

:D Pretty Much Useless eh... lol, I hear you NYC I don't have any lighting on my PC, one of the reasons I purchased the UNIFY Board was it's Stealth Look all Black really appeals to me, my Chromax Noctua Fan the RAM, the Power Supply Cables and Form Factor all Black... Dark Colors Dark Side Darkness..

Hey , My Fan is trying to fire up, It just turned on for a revolution or two, and shut off again... did that twice, now it's just stopped again... Weird.

I only used it for mystic light, because can control RAM, GPU, Fans, Keyboard and mouse RGB all in one place

tried latest version still same, so uninstalled and gone back to alternative
would be nice if one day windows natively had RGB control for devices
