I captured the following screenshot after enabling Legacy Game Compatibility Mode in BIOS 115 beta. I would expect cores #6 to #9 to be at 0%.

Dunno how much I'd trust coretemp tbh don't think it's fully updated for latest CPU.
For example used coretemp and hwinfo to check my temps and trust hwinfo since not getting 0 readings. Highly unlikely to get 0C reading on any core methinks?

Are you running any game for checking?
The screenshot was with MSFS running. I want to disable E-Cores to ensure that MSFS doesn't get any threads assigned to the slower cores.

The live temps look fine, the zero is probably just a glitch from initialization or something.

Make sure you are using PS2 Keyboard.
Wow, really? That could explain it. Do people still use ps/2 these days? If that would make it work, I might buy a cheap ps/2 keyboard to take it apart and build my own dedicated gaming mode toggle switch.

No need ;)
For testing purpose - try via: start > settings > ease of access > keyboard
Turn on > use the on-screen keyboard

Click ScrLk

Edit

Btw, MSFS 2020 works without any problems with P+E-cores ;)
For testing purpose - also you can disable E-cores via BIOS settings

Thanks for the idea. I tried it but the effect is the same as when I set ScrLk with my USB keyboard, which is to say no effect. I don't have a PS2 keyboard as was also suggested in this thread.

In my testing E-Cores off gave higher framerate. Which IMO makes sense: MSFS can't use more than 6 cores (or maybe 4? Not sure) and Windows distributes all the work evenly amongst the cores. Now what many people don't understand, is that even single thread applications are passed around a lot between the cores for thermal reasons. This means if there are E-Cores available it's quite likely that threads from MSFS will sometimes get sent to an E-core for a while.
I'll try to explain with this picture:
Clipboard Image (2).png

This is while MSFS is running. two of the P-Cores, #4 and #5 are not doing any work because Windows has currently told the E-cores to work. If the E-cores are disabled, then this never happens. The P-Cores never go to zero.

That's why I'm interested in disabling E-cores on the fly for gaming, which isn't working as expected.

The Asus ROG motherboard I replaces also had a ps/2 port so I kept my P2/2 keyboard around. There are also usb to ps/2 adapters dunno if it came with my old Asus mobo but might want to try to see if you have adapter laying around?

Legacy Game Compatibility Mode not working for me with 7D25v11 also. Toggling scroll lock makes no difference at all.

How do we get this working? Can someone from MSI list every single step that they have confirmed themselves by trying? Download HWMonitor and buy a cheap Amazon USB keyboard and try it.

Scroll Lock DOES NOT WORK. Either via keyboard or on-screen keyboard with latest drivers. New Windows 10 install with all updates. What MSI drivers do we need? Do we need Intel SVGA/ME? Intel Extreme Tuning Utility? What are Intel Graphics Drivers 31.0.101.3222/31.0.101.2111? Why are they not listed in MSI Center > Live Update? Are you calling them Intel SVGA or are they different? Feel like giving us a tooltip description of what these are in MSI Center? Do I need a PS/2 keyboard, and why?

This motherboard has been utter trash so far. The instructions in the box are non-existent. Even the latest BIOS update started without any realtek audio drivers, and no warning that I would have to reinstall them. 2001 winamp skin bios with "EZ" mode.

- Latest Windows 10 updates.
- Latest BIOS
- Legacy Game Compatibility [Enabled]
- Scroll Lock does nothing, confirmed working via on-screen keyboard.
- Only disabling all efficiency-cores works, but obviously do not want to.

About to leave a 1-star Amazon review unless this is sorted quickly. Give us a toggle to disable efficiency cores in the MSI Center.

Edit - Solved?
Assassin's Creed Odyssey's executable in Task Manager > Details > Set Affinity had the 4 e-cores unchecked/disabled. Was that the motherboard's Legacy Game Compatibility Mode setting doing that? I checked/enabled them and now I have smooth performance and no core gets 100% utilization. I got the idea from Elden Ring PC Stutter and Low Fps Fix. So now turning ON the e-cores fixes it? But not from the bios? Should I turn of LGC mode in bios now? Who knows...
