Device: MSI Katana A17 AI B8VG
dGPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 Mobile 105W
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS (with Radeon 780m iGPU)
OS: Kubuntu 26.04

I will try to cut this short,

Normally my GPU draws up to 105W (80 + 25 dynamic boost) in Win11, when I try Ubuntu 24.04 (or other distros) my power draw is limited to 60W and with dynamic boost it is 85W. In Kubuntu 26.04 the power draw is limited to 55W and 65W with dynamic boost.

Afaik people with other laptops fixed this issue by activating dynamic boost and changing power mode in laptop settings (fn + some key), my laptop model don't have changing power function like that (MSI Center has extreme performance, balanced, silent but none works).

Methods I have tried:
- Enabling dynamic boost manually (already enabled at ubuntu 26.04)
- Forcing performance modes
- Different distros
- MControlCenter
- "sudo nvidia-smi -pl 105" results not supported problem

Below you can find "nvidia-smi -q -d POWER" output
Code:

Yes I have tried other distros, including arch and cachyos.
Thank you so much for the answer, I will open a topic in Nvidia Linux forums.

Hello,

I tried Ubuntu 26.04 on my laptop, RTX 4060 140W version and from what I can see the driver appears to be the issue, it's applying the wrong GPU profile as there are various versions. Eg, The RTX 4060 comes in a 115W and 140W package, for my laptop it's forcing the 115W limit (wrong GPU profile).

It will be the same for your one as the RTX 4070 comes in a 65W, 105W, 120W and 140W package, so the current driver / nvidia-powerd config is not right.
