I am in a dilemma here regarding Lucid Hydra

I don't have:
1) Money
2) Power Supply
3) The Girl of my dreams

Those 3 things are missing in my life.
1 and 2 can be solved later

Now, since I don't have money and watts, my main question is:

A) Even though I won't benefit much, can I buy a GT 430 and run it in Hydra with a GTX 460?

I want to TRY Hydra, so I want to know if that's an option.

I heard that if the power of card #2 is less than 50% of the power of card #1, the performance boost of Hydra can be negative, or non-existence

If I buy a GTS 450 I doubt the PC will even turn on

I have Ultra 600 watt

I appreciate responses, but please do not say

"buy a better power supply"

That's not an option for a while

Your store Microcenter seems overpriced, and sells a lot of 'flashy junk'.

We're big fans of Corsair PSUs here, and I'd think you'd be better off shopping elsewhere, spending the extra $10 and getting this instead from NewEgg:

No flashy LEDs, not modular, but a strong single 60a 12v rail, and it won't let you down. And to me, that matters more than 'bling'.

I agree with you.

I want to try Lucid HYDRA.

So I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars online and then realize HYDRA is kind of buggy (as it happens with a lot of new drivers, and a lot of times in Windows 64 bit OS)

So if I buy something at Microcenter, believe me, if HYDRA works, after 30 days I can return it and then buy something decent at Newegg

I LOVE my computer building skills, so for me the less cables, the better.
I am 100% sure there is a nice power supply unit out there, with modular cables

If it has a blue LED, that would be better :)

I have Corsair RAM, CPU Cooler (H70) and power supply, and I agree with you, they make good products.

I also had a Corsair SSD force series and that baby was really fast

If you are going to insist on modular, then I would recommend one of the Corsair modular PSUs with a single +12v rail.  Stay away from the cutesy lighting crap.

You can have a neat case without having a modular PSU with the proper cable management.  See images below from the build of my X38 machine:

Yeah too many cables for me

I will buy the Corsair as you recommended, thanks for your advice

I also update my profile signature so people can know the specs of my gaming rig

I don't stare at the inside of the case.  Do note that most of what you see in the upper section are communication cables(PATA, SATA, case, usb, etc.).

I will inform you that modular cables introduce extra resistance points and addition points of failure(fittings that can and do come loose).  So, if you get a modular PSU, anytime you work inside the case, you need to ensure that no fittings have come loose, not only from the mobo and hardware, but from the PSU.  Also, ever so often, you may want to check that the connections are nice and secure at the PSU even if you haven't been in the case.

Hey guys
I bought GTS 250

it doesn't works

I'm really confused now, does Lucid HYDRA sucks with Nvidia?

From what I heard, in the first article of Lucid Hydra, the review said N mode wasn't ready yet

I already tried GTX 460 + GT 420

and now GTX 460 + GTS 250

That combination is "officially supported", so why is it not working?

So far, Lucid HYDRA is a good concept, that's about it

Anybody has any clue how to enable this?
