I am also having the identical problem. Received monitor Nov 7 and HDR worked through DP port windows 11 with FW106. Updated firmware to FW116 and HDR shows not supported in windows. Have also updated driver in device manager and DDUed and updated GPU drivers. If someone has a copy of FW106 I can try and roll back to it would be appreciated to see if that would solve the issue. I cannot seem to find legacy firmware online. Using AMD RX 7800 XT it may only be an AMD issue.

nah bro not AMD issue, I am using MSI RTX 5080 trio ( nvidia )

I'm currently using the HDMI port because HDR works there. Incidentally, without DSC and at 10-bit color, the HDMI port could only handle 144Hz. I hope MSI fix this in future FW models. There's real hope, as I haven't noticed any HDR issues with the factory FW106 firmware.
I'd advise new owners of this monitor not to update the firmware yet.

I opened a ticket with web support and was given a copy of FW106 but it throws an error when trying to load if to flash. I am continuing to try and interface with support to find a solution. My best guess would be that it doesn't want to flash a "downgraded" firmware. As far as I can tell it is the correct file for this monitor. I have not been able to find a checksum to verify the file's veracity. This is the link I was given by support anyways, your mileage may vary, try at your own risk.
Moderators can please remove this if it is against any rules.

Don't think it's a firmware issue FW116 works fine for my screen, did you guys flash the wrong FW? maybe you had FW020 initially and flashed FW116 instead of FW029? not blaming just curious.

I was very careful about that. I definitely had FW106 before upgrading. I have now been told by support to just wait for the next firmware release and hope that solves this problem.

I suggest you reach out directly to MSI.

btw another problem in FW116,
  • Description:
    1. Changing Protect Notice from 16 hrs to 24 hrs. ( FIXED )
  • 2. Fixed the default of Panel Protect will change back to 24hr option. (When the default of panel protect has changed to “Auto”.) ( NOT FIXED still having this problem )
  • 3. Fixed in SDR mode, that switch the sub option of “DisplayHDR” will cause SDR brightness difference phenomenon. ( FIXED )

I'm also having this exact same issue after updating firmware from 106 to 116 on a MAG 273QP X24 I just purchased. May have to look into simply returning it if there's no solution...

something weird with your FW flash, cause HDR works fine on mine and panel protect doesn't change like before either.
