I've had my Liquid Cooler for about 6 months and it has now started to make horrible noises underload and only fixes itself when I put the computer to sleep and reboot. It will stay quiet till about 70c to 80c operating temp. Then I have to sleep the computer again to get rid of the noise.
I have it mounted to the top of my case with fans under the radiator pushing air out of the case. I had no problem when I first bought it playing Cyberpunk 2077 with the CPU around 65c to 70c during operation. The only thing I can think of is, my cat might have jumped on top of the PC while it was in operation and damaged it from the vibration. She's a fat cat.

Any advice is appreciated, and I will likely replace it with an air cooler until I can RMA this one. I have posted a picture of the previous configuration I had it in before trying to troubleshoot the noise. I now have it with the tubes below the cpu block and still have the radiator mounted to the top of the case.

Hi, have you recieved support for your issue with the cooler? I have a 240R and a 360R and both dont seem to cool properly either (95 degrees was the highest i let it go before swapping out for a different cooler).

I disabled the Intel Turbo Boost while I sort out the issue but it appears to me the cooler is not working as efficient as it use to when I bought it 6 months ago. It is also still making pump noise under operation. the high temps it has hit now is about 80c. I will be calling MSI this weekend.
My advice to you is, try to tighten the mount as much as possible. That improved my heat about 10c. If you have a z490 board you may want to disable some boost settings unless you need the performance.

***EDIT***
I ran cinebench multi core test and hit 100c
I ran civ 6 gathering storm AI test and hit 100c
I ran F1 2021 benchmark 5 laps and it will get to 74c
The volts only get to 1.054 and the base clock of the GPU is locked at the factory 3.8 ghz.

It's really concerning that even with the Intel Turbo boost disabled this AIO is still not able to cool the CPU from it's Tj max temp.
The pump makes all sorts of noises while it cycles through the heating and cooling, at 47 it has small bubble like pops and at 100c it sounds like a bicycle with a card attached to the spoke.
I could understand if the 10700k should have a much larger AIO but a 240mm should perform better than this.

Hi, I have a little problem with my MSI MAG CORELIQUID 240R. Every time I turn on the computer, the pump makes a strange noise. I know it is the pump because I have unplugged all the fans and it makes the same noise.
You can hear this noise here:
I tested the temperatures using 3DMark and it doesn't seem that there is anything strange:

Should I open a ticket with technical support? At first the temperatures seem normal, but the noise ...

I copy and paste from another reply i did from this forum, hope this help you out

i recommend not to use the cooling anymore, i purchase one last year, the AIO cooler fail, remember the pump the cooler using is a magnetic type, even it show is spinning, that didn't mean the blade actually is, as i find out my system shut down all be itself for the last few week, i checked everything, i find the exhuast pump is hot but not the radiator or the input tube, that mean the water is not flowing smoothly all the pump stopped, i ended up installing the original AMD cooler and open the MSI cooler to check, thing i find

1. coolant is slimy - coolant and distil water is not mix probably, bacteria is growing inside
2. pump is a magnetic free spinning type so it the pump pressure inside the radiator is too much for the blade to work, the system will still see the pump spinning
3. a lot of air within the loop - after 1 year of use (I keep my computer on 24/7) there is a lot of evaporation, there is a refilling hole on the radiator, but refilling is not as easy is putting the coolant in
4. as I drained the radiator, a lot of white flake is build up inside the loop, i think is the water used is not distil which is the separation product from the calcium in the water
5. then opened up the cpu block can see the white flake is blocking the flow though the cpu block, causing the the flow to go very slowly and some time the pump can't even start is the pressure is too great for the pump to overpower (the pump is one of the smallest one i seen)
6, when i flash the radiator more of the slime and white flake come out

from what i have find is recommended to replace another brand AIO, or what i did and replace the coolant and clean out the system, don't worry about claiming warranty, as them will just replace the system for you but, is still the same [***CENSORED***] inside

i have the same sound a few week ago , and this week the system got into shutdown when the temp go over 106C (when i doing light gaming) CPU is only @ 30%, the idle temp is 74-78C, just be careful hopefully you don't damage any of the hardware

I'd get it replaced ASAP while under warranty. If the post about subpar coolant and chemicals is true then this thing will surely be dead at the one-year mark. I have the MPG K240 with the LCD screen. Haven't had any hardware issues but it's only 2 months old. Their newest version of MSI Center / Coreliquid is broken and the AIO stops cooling or even seeing the CPU temp. Waiting on a new update for that. For $210 I kinda feel scammed now. I have no overclocking headroom on my AMD 5800X CPU because it cant dissipate enough heat. I hate to admit but I'm probably going to have to bite the bullet and go back to Corsair AIO H100i that's 1-year-old and sitting in the garage. Maybe I can sell my MPG K240 to someone for $100.

sell it, i recommend not to use it, you must can't the coolant, the k240 is base on the 240r, so you will end up with the same issue as i have. i am from an engineer background, i am ok to work and make the product work, but is not a easy job. good luck with it

Hi, same issue here ! I bought my 240R in may 2021 and it has been perfect until 2 weeks ago. It has started to making noise only when PC booting, then for longer and longer. Today we can hear the noise permanently... Thank you for this topic I was going crazy. So the best solution is to buy a new AIO from another brand? Does the MSI warranty can reimburse us ?

cleaned the system, flash all the thing out if it and refilled with new coolant(my own mix) currently system running at under 40C idle and max at 57C (that is no overclocking, just standard PBO setting), luckily i still have my standard AMD wraith cooler, was using that when i repairing the 360R, if you claim warranty, they will just replace the coolerm and you will run into the same issue in a year or two. so you have three choice,
1. Get a new one different brand at your own cost
2. Claim warranty (cooler have 3 year warranty) and have the same issue in a year or two
3. clean it, repair it, and finger cross, the system run for longer, before i change the coolant, my idle was 44-45c and max just under 65c, after replacing the coolant, it got better, but refilling the AIO is not a easy job, and have to make sure minimum air within the system, and coolant is mixed correctly, and the correct pump to push the coolant in, the pressure clean to get the white flake withing the fin inside the CPU block. i have all the equipment, is easy for me to do, but for someone who don't, is cheaper buying a new and better AIO

if MSI is reading this, a small flow indicator with a see though windows within the AIO will show the cooler coolant condition, and the flow of the coolant, is a small additonal cost, but if the product is build correctly, it will last for a long time...... in this cast, they bought the design, and label their own NZXT have a AIO 120/140mm previous with a pump on the radiator, but fail in the market

If you have such issues please contact seller or MSI immediately. Unfortunately these are all in one products and there is hardly anything that can be done by end user. >>How to contact MSI.<<

Reporting directly to MSI might also help them improve the product.

Obviously certain products have higher defect rate than the others, but also could be batch specific. Can't really tell, as for past few years I have been running custom loop.

last time i have a issue with the sekina 500x being overheated, I contact MSI, result is nothing being done or can be done, i have a chipped glass on the top panel, i was told to contact the retailer, then after 9 month i still didn't get a replace until i complaint the panel then retailer pushed the wholesaler to send the replacement panel, the issue of the overheating case, i end up have to cut the internal panel and re fitted all the fan to make the cooling work. so if i contact msi, my result will " please send the cooler back to the retailer for warranty, then wait(could be another 9 month), while i don't have a cooler to use, most likely i will be send a replacement of the same product, will end up with the same issue in a year, look i have a MSI motherboard and graphic card and they are fine, i change the thermal pads, and use better thermal grease. but other product is not that great, and where you have issue, the help receive is useless. i know how to contact MSI, i contact your guy so you can improve on further product, but what is it for me, i will still be send replacement of the same product which have a bad design fault in it. but watching YOUTUBE on any Sekina 500x, you can tell they are lying into the performance of the case, having a 20cm fan 1 cm off the front and top panel will create a negative airflow, i have mentioned on my last contact with MSI, no solution is given, you can search the forum yourself and see how i solve YOUR problem. in this case i also solve YOUR AIO issue of using bad coolant (which white flake have build up on the loop system and blocked the water flow to the CPU micro fins, when the flow of water is reduce the cpu overheat. if you being reading what i have posted in the forum, then send the info to your technical and get it fix. accepting negative comment and do something about it will get return customer. ignore your customer and let them deal with the issue then they will choose a different brand next time.... in my situation for the case is that i was total ignore, which i have to deal will it myself, and the warranty of the top panel is a joke, i simply got the replacement panel 1 month before the warranty run out, your guy got my email, if you want more technical issue with the product i will be happy to share, i come from an engineering background as far as i can see, not much have be done about the currently issue with the cooler as they all started to dead in the same time frame ( the coolant will will be in the loop about the same time for all those cooler), as i registered all my product, i never receive email, or recall, or issue to look out off in any of those product..

I am facing the same issues here. The cooler was bought 2 months ago and a week back, it was generating intermittent humming sound until today - permanent noise. I'll have contacted the seller and was told to send in for RMA and the process will take at least 1 month :(
Its shocking to see this thread there with so many affected customers.. Guess I'm not alone here

instead of saying your product is bad, i actually make it work, did anyone in MSI notice? "NOPE", did MSI help to think of a solution? "NOPE"
then please don't ask me to contact MSI when there is an issue, the forum is setup for user to share useful information and that is exacting what i did
Did you ever consider that MSI probably has no idea, even after you posted here? Considering that they (MSI) generally aren't checking the forums.....

That being said, coming here and being a general nuisance when it's been made clear there isn't much, or anything really, that we can do, pretty much tells me all I need to know about you.
First, See : >>Please read and comply with the Forum Rules.<<

Next, the best anyone can suggest here is to contact MSI. See : >>How to contact MSI.<<

Next, the cooler is based on a design from Cooler Master, not NZXT.

Lastly, GN is pretty terrible as a review, and steve himself really has no clue what he's doing 99% of the time.....We won't even get into how poorly they test parts, and how badly their information is always skewed......Or that the whole time he's just trying to shove his own merch down people's throats to make money.....
